Patch Error

I have recently tried to install the Oblivion Official Patch but I get an error saying the old file was not found and the contents did not match. I have the Oblivion Mod Manager installed so I am thinking that what might be the problem but I am not sure.

 

Any ideas on what to do?

I am now unable to launch a loaded game. Everytime I try, it comes to the loading screen and then it suddenly crashes to the desktop.

 

Need some help here please.

I think you need to provide more information. What build of OB are you patching from and to? Is OB installed in the default directory? Also, make sure you backup your saves to a separate directory. Make sure you got the correct language version of the patch to match your copy as well.

Look in the lower left corner of the start up screen to see what version you have - 1.2.0416 is the latest.

If you have Shivering Isles, use the SI patch instead of the Oblivion patch. If you have patched Si, then you will get that message.

If you have the wrong language version of the Oblivion patch it is a problem. There are 2 English versions, UK and US and they are different! Some people think we speak the same language.

There is only one English version of the SI patch - I guess sometimes we do speak the same language - sort of.

The patch will not work with the downloaded version of Oblivion due to copy protection - you need the version from where you downloaded from.

The patch will not work on many pirated versions. If you use a pirated version buy the game.
