Rattleheead
I have an idea to make the combat more interesting.I mean the close combat when enemies coming too close, there should be a way to knock back them, or attack back with a knife. Theres a lot of FPS games ( like the COD series ) where you can use a meele weapon instead of gun to smash close enemies with pushing down a key ( like "E" ). This will give the game more FPS feeling. I don't know if its possible, but couldn't hurt. =]Thanks for reading!
devinpatterson
I mean the close combat when enemies coming too close, there should be a way to knock back them, or attack back with a knife. I know what you mean, I always wanted to use medicine stick to smash somebody/thing in the head if it got to close. It's easy to make a melee weapon out of a firearm *model*, but you'll never have a single weapon that is both range and melee. I'v pondered how it would work off and on and I think you could do it, by swapping out two different weapons (melee and ranged) that *appear* to be the same. Tie a hotkey to a script that equips (with a silent flag) a duplicate weapon that is a melee version. Not sure if the script should automatically switch it back to a firearm after the first strike or leave the melee weapon version of the firearm until the same hotkey is hit a 2nd time (or a different hotkey). Also I think you need NVSE for the hotkey, but I'm just guessing. After that you just need the proper animation. Pistol whipping someone should be a easy animation, heck there's one in honest hearts with Joshua Graham. They use the same idea of swapping out two different weapons (melee and ranged) that look identical. I use firearms almost exclusively (western character), but I bet there's animations that would work for smashing some one with a rifle butt. If I have time I'll take a crack at it this weekend.
