charwo Posted July 31, 2012 Share Posted July 31, 2012 This is not a mod request. I am at the point where I want to build a mod of my own, but I don't know how to go about it. I know what I want to do, but lack the....expertise to do it, but everything I've seen don e before. Essentially the core of this mod is a crafting game, you input things and things get constructed or dissembled This comes in three parts: First I want an option whereby the game will let you spend an hour or two to completely carve up a body for parts. Like take a bear: normally when you kill a bear you take a 200 pound creature and make a 2 pound slice of meat. Well....I want to build a option whereby you have a menu option to cut up the carcass completely and get 5 or 10 such slices for an hour of your time. And I want this option to vary by creature: like, four pieces of dog meat for a dog, 10 pieces of strange meat from a death claw, and...5 pieces of strange meat from a human. The cost is in time as well. The potentially tricky part is that I don't quite understand the way enemies respawn or how to control it. Essentially, I want the bodies to disappear from view without a direct respawn. I just discovered the zap command and I f***ing love it. Except, that when I zaped out the bodies of the Talon Company Mercs at Northwest Seneca Station, they respawned right back. Honestly the rapid rate of repawning like that breaks the game in terms of you have so much stuff you acquire from looting, so I was toying with a notion that looting should be instantaneous, except for the clothes, which takes five minutes is impossible when you are in combat (using the waiting ability metric) . In any case, I want to be able to get rid of all the bodies without it effecting the respawn rate. That I don't know how to do, but given the mods, I'm sure a lot of you do. Then there's the crafting component: while I want to eventually to create more lore friendly versions of this, more specialized and such, for right now, I want to make a mod for Mothership Zeta for the auto crafting benches. First: anything you can craft with a regular bench, you can craft with the auto bench. This is not a problem with vanilla, but since I'm playing with the full FWE, there's a lot of items I can't craft. I also want some kind of display on the crafting section that before you craft, it shows you the required items, and how many you have. Now this thing shows up when you don't have enough parts, but I'd like to see what items I'm about to lose before I commit! Of course, while I'm at it, I want the auto crafting bench to have a multiple maker menu like the regular workbenches, including an 'all' bottom that makes as many as possible. And then I want to radically expansion of what you can do: I want to take the book restoration kit, the Robco field and water purifier mod items (except the purified water instead of the 'good water') and the mythical washing machine mods I've never seen, and use them to make new books and grilled meat and clean water. But I want more than that: I want to set up a system that would allow you to make scrap metal from tin cans and weapons, book pages from objects with wood (turning them into wood pulp) and milk, soda and nuka-cola bottles into purified water much like the sink from New Vegas. Also, I want the ability to turn human flesh and the mutilated gore parts into strange meat.I just don't know the programming language. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
charwo Posted August 1, 2012 Author Share Posted August 1, 2012 Why am I not getting any help on this? I'm not asking someone to do this for me, I just need advice on how to do it myself. And if I do it myself, I will certainly develop the skills I need to further mod the game without substantial assistance. As is though, I'm a noob in a vast world I don't understand.
