GirlGamer55
So i'm not new to modding, been doing this for a few years now but never quite figured out how to fix this issue. I know flickering textures in game mean you need to do the invalidation thing. But what about in the GECK? Let's say I made a new texture for the teddy bear. When I put it on the teddy, it starts picking up any texture of the objects around it. I mean I made the texture correctly (I think), so I have no idea what is going on. I just know that if I go in game the texture shows up fine. Not a huge deal, but annoying enough for me to want to finally fix it.
Quetzlsacatanango
The texture has to live under data\textures, so if it is somewhere else it will do that.
GirlGamer55
It is under data\textures.
GirlGamer55
Still dealing with this issue here. It is more then annoying, it's a problem. If I make a new texture I can't see how it will fit on a model without going in game to test it. I don't want to do that..
nivea
I have the problem every now and then but I use nifskope to view my stuff anyways, it might be a shader issue on the item or the way your saving the dds?
devinpatterson
GirlGamer55 what happens if you use the original nif with your new texture as an alternate texture set in geck? Does it still freak out?
devinpatterson
Sh*t, just realized I forgot about your dress request  . I'm going to go work on that right now

Other then to view models idk how to use nifskope. As for the shader issue idk. And I should be saving the dds right...I use paint.net and save it as DXT5 (Interpolated Alpha), compressor type Cluster fit (slow/hq), error metric perceptual. I heard that was how I was supposed to save it as.

devinpatterson
I don't exactly know what you mean... I'm not sure how many modders use it typically, but it allows you to apply a new texture without creating a new nif. Here is a link Also I just realized I was being stupid on your other project. All I have to do is replace your original dress with the legs I made and the new mesh should work fine with your tights texture. I got so wrapped up in why it wasn't working, I sort of lost focus on just getting it going. So this weekend I'll put that together for you.
