Superhaggis
This mod is based around the idea that Skyrim's Cities can barely be called towns, and also the idea that the storyline from Skyrim is taking place in our period of history when the Roman Empire was on the decline, Late Antiquity. One of the most notable changes during late antiquity was the Founding of a new Capital City in the East, Constantinople the greatest city in the Roman Empire, this city and surrounding Empire survived (bar one event) until 1453. My idea was to create a large new city based upon Constantiople with the surrounding area, including new quests and factions. Some more outlining has taken place here http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/640555-city-of-constantinople/ Having finally gotten some free time to focus on the mod the plan is to work on with this mod, if anyone with an intrest wants to help out they are more than welcome. Superhaggis
Okay In relation to a kind of storyline and List of factions here it is, The (very basic) idea for a sort of story line is a Governor of a city based around Constantinople who is forced to hire mercenaries from Skyrim in order to keep himself in power, this is where the player comes in as a lowly Merc, who is transported to a city that is fighting a proxy war on behalf of the Empire or Redguards against some Thalmor allies. ATM the main Factions and storylines are, Basileus or Despot (the city government)Including the Civil Guard, Vagarian Guard, Mercenaries and governor's Huscarls, and City Watch. The EmpireIncluding the XIII Legion Fulvia. A Nordic FactionPossably with links to the stormcloaks as the city is a main staging post and supply depot for the legions, includes sympathetic Mercs and members of the Vagarian guard. Crime SyndicatesThieves guild, Bandits, Dark Brotherhood cells, ect. Thalmor and Co.Unknown at this point, perhaps Pro-Elven Redguards and an actual Thalmor Army. The idea at this point is to be able to join each faction and perhaps certain parts of the sub factions, apart from maybe the Thalmor. Ive managed to get a map for the imperial palace and surrounding area which will be the home of the government faction. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/78/Constantinople_imperial_district.png The plan would be for 5-7 "zones" ie Palace, Slums, Legion Barracks, Industrial, Countryside, a Thalmor annexed town ect. (BTW the reason I have reserved all those posts is to show screenshots as the mod progresses).
Ga-Knomboe Boy
Even though this mod isn't lore friendly, I absolutely love the idea. Roman history is one of my favourite things, although I'm not very well versed in the happenings of the Byzantine / Eastern Roman Empire.I hope you are a modeller or have a modeller on board because it would be brilliant to see the architecture come to life in Skyrim. One thing of note, if you model the Hagia Sophia, remember that the Islamic features such as the mihrab, minbar, and four minarets were added later in the 15th century when it was converted from a Cathedral into a Mosque. Similarly since Constantinople has changed possession so many times it might be hard to find info on the proper Byzantine architecture your looking for (I'm guessing from the map your basing it off 6th century Justininan era rather than 4th century Constantine era). Thats right, it's gonna be based around the Justinian Era after the reconquest of africa and Italy. In terms of Lore, my view is that after the new emporer took office the Empire would begin construction on a new capital between Hammerfell and Anvil. However this city declared Independence and joined the Anti- Thalmor Redguard forces after the great war. Yeah everything is going to be pre-Islamic conquest architecture if I can help it. ATM im modding in armous for the Civil Guard (a kind of secret police group) and the City Watch which is taking time as im trying to create an armour with an Imperial look but that is unique as well.
