the default is programfiles(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/skyrim. At least I think it's "steam" following the first folder - I have my steam in another location and can't remember whether I created a new second folder or not. The default name might be "Steam Games" Also, I think the (x86) isn't there if you have a 32-bit OS.

The saves and a couple ini files are in My Documents/My Games/ Skyrim.

You can search Steam support/help for how to move to a different location, I'm positive it's in their FAQs (though you can't change the My Documents thing), but if I recall correctly (and I'm 99% sure of this) you actually can't do it on a game-specific basis. You have to install steam itself to the new location.

Here is how I changed my location for the game, this I did to install Wrye Bash:

1) Made a folder in D: drive

2) Closed the Steam client

3) Cut the Steam folder from C:\Program files (x86) and pasted it in the new folder created.

4) Opened the steam folder and deleted all files and folder except steam.exe and Steamapps

5) ran the steam.exe and it asked me to login to steam again and reconfigured Skyrim to the new folder.

Note: If you have mod utilities like mad manager etc. then they will also have to be reconfigured.

Also, this is a method I tried and worked for me like a charm, however, I am not an expert in these matters, please check thread in Bethesda for clarifications
