Elynda
Did a new install of DAO but now all the unique metal tower shields except Greagor's are missing their textures in game and also in the toolset. Anyone ever have this issue? Researched but could find nothing.
theskymoves
Are the shields missing all their textures or just the heraldry? Are you using any mods? If so, what are they and how were they installed?
Elynda
Completely missing textures. Just the grey model shows.. Mods are installed manually, mostly hair\face mods, armor\clothes mods. I do use the shield scale mod but that only does standard shields, not unique. Can't even figure out what the name of the missing textures are. thumbincubation
Two things you can try, if you're familiar with either option: Open creation kit, find the shield(s) in question and double click to open their form. On the right hand side, upper quadrant, there should be an edit button to change/view the world model associated with the shield. You should be able to click on that and see what (if any) textures it is expecting to see. If you see that but no texture is visible on the model there, I'd guess you're missing the textures themselves, or they've been installed in a different file path. Try to follow that file path, within your data folder, to see if you end up where they are. If not, when you find them, put them in following that file path. If you see a texture on the world model, but still not while being carried, then you would want to check the same thing on the Armor Addon, which is in the right lower quadrant of the shield form, though in my experience the shields are pretty simple, so world and carried models are usually the same one. The other option is to use Nifskope to expand the nodes and see what (if any) textures have been applied to the model by the author. As with creation kit above, if you see a file path there, try to follow it in your game's data folder and see if the textures are where the model expects them to be. Here's a youtube tutorial from Elianora, about manipulating textures with both CK and Nifskope. This was filmed for "Oldrim," but the main difference you will see is the SSE models usually use BSTriShapes, instead of NiTriShapes. (I say usually because some SSE models are actually oldrim models that have been converted, and you may still see NiTriShapes in them.) *edit - I have no idea why that video posted twice. -_- Edited March 9, 2019 by thumbincubation
Elynda
Fixed it in the toolset. Opened the local copy of each shield. Changed one of the variables from Tower Shield B to Tower Shield A and saved. Now the textures are showing up. Thanks for the help folks!
KasumiRINA
^ I had that bug since installing Viva La Orlais. Deleting W_SHD_TWRb.mao from it (Emperor Shield folder) fixed all the Heavy shields in the game and made them show proper texture.
