KitsuneAria
Alright, I'm completely new to the modding of Oblivion. I've tried looking at the tutorials and I've done the basic things like editing an items stats and placing it in-game. What I'm trying to do now is To take the Golden Saint and Dark Seducer Armor, and create clothing versions of it and place them so Cutter and That Orc smith from Bliss (I can never remember those Orc names) will sell them. First I have to find the .dds and .nif files to tell the new clothing what models and textures are used, but I can't find them. I try going where the original armor says the files are but I can only see the ones for mods I've downloaded, I don't see any of the orignals for Iron, Steel, Dwarven, etc. Could someone please tell me where these files are? Well the default meshes and textures are in the .bsa files. So you need BSA Commander ( LINK ) and unpack them somewhere or even in your Oblivion Data folder. Khet
Well, to be honest with you the only time you really need BSA commander is to retexture something. If you just want to say, change the name of an item, or create an item that looks like another item (say a magical glass sword with your own enchantments) you really need only find said item in the item list, click on Edit, then change the formID and when you close the window it'll ask if you want to create a new ID ALWAYS say yes, otherwise you'll change every item in the game.
