nexus527
I would like to make an area for a town with quests or even several towns but I worry about conflicting with locations that are common/popular mods use up. Is it easy enough to create some sort of new area that is reachable by magic or boat via the nearest larger sized body of water? What methods do other modders use in selecting a location? Is it sort of first come, first serve and/or whoever ends up with the more popular mod? How can one do their homework first to select an area not commonly used? What methods have modders used to instead create a new region attached to the gameworld (sea, sky, or connected land, etc)? By methods, I do not mean the technical advanced explanation of step by step process but rather.. where in the gameworld did they set up new regions? Thanks for any and all input. Xenogeist
I think the majority of player home mods are created east and west of Riverwood, a nice central location on the map so players don't have to go out of their way. As long as you steer clear of those areas and keep away from any cities your mod probably won't bump into any others. Creating a teleport that takes the player to a new area is a good method too. I put mine near the edge of the map, near the road south-east of Riften. It is way off the beaten track but I like the look of the Rift and most players will just fast travel there anyway. The only downside is the map sometimes has trouble scrolling to the edge and showing the map marker.
