reaper9111 Posted August 4, 2012 Share Posted August 4, 2012 Hello guy's... - Is it normal that anyone holding a crossbow hold it "kinda" over it's shoulder ? (or this would be caused by an animation replacer if it ain't normal)- I'm unable to fire crossbow ? (i hold it in my hand, over the shoulder as mention above) but when i want to fire it, it just does'nt move) No Animation, no firing nothing ! Matth85 Posted August 4, 2012 Share Posted August 4, 2012 Sounds fishy. As there is a clear animations when firing/reloading. May I ask, do you got any mods? Or have you recently removed a bunch of mods before playing Dawnguard? If yes, I suggest letting Steam validate the files of Skyrim, as I believe something is corrupt.If no, I am not sure. And hoped it would work, and suprisingly it works great. But I noticed the crossbow animation instead of shooting it work as a melee weapon both player and npc strike with it like its a knife or something. Does anyone know what mod might have caused the problem. fore Posted August 6, 2012 Share Posted August 6, 2012 reaper, you are incorrect in 2 things:- behavior files (most of them in "behaviors", "character/characters", "character/characters female") are NOT animation files (under "animations" and below). Behavior files are needed so that animation files can work properly. .hkx is only an archive format. There is even a skeleton compressed in .hkx - if you "disable" anim mods (their plugins ?) you will not deacrivate behavior files. You have to delete or overwrite outdated behavior files. Most crossbow animation problems I have seen are caused by outdated behavior files, installed by old versions of animation mods (e.g. Fore's New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS 1.0 or 1.5, or AP), or some other animation mods, which were simply not updated to the newest skyrim versions by their authors). There also seem to be some more DLC specific problems, and in some cases I don't know, if users simply didn't understand how to remove the behavior files. You can fix the crossbow "behavior based" problems in 2 ways 1) FNIS (RE-)INSTALLATION FIX (should work in most cases):- remove data/meshes/actors/character/behaviors/mt_behavior.hkx- (re-)install Fore's New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS. Make sure GenerateFNISforUsers.exe is runFNIS will overwrite the most common cause of animation glitches (due to old defaultmale.hkx, and defaultfemale.hkx) 2) BEHAVIOR CLEAN-UP:delete the following files, or move them to a different folder:- data/meshes/actors/character/*.hkx- data/meshes/actors/character/behaviors/*.hkx- data/meshes/actors/character/characters/defaultmale.hkx - data/meshes/actors/character/characters female/defaultfemale.hkxNow of course all animation mods which need behavior files need to be re-installed Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Edit: Tried deleting the same files inside \meshes\actors\character\_1stperson, and I can now fire my crossbow in 1st person. Unfortunately, the crossbow is now invisible. Thus, the search continues. Edit 2: Works! I deleted: - Data\meshes\actors\character\_1stperson\behaviors\*.hkx - Data\meshes\actors\character\_1stperson\characters\*.hkxAt first the crossbow was invisible, but it appeared when I unequipped and then equipped.
