Dawnguard: Quest bug "Awakening"

Hello,

Yesterday I downloaded Dawnguard. There were no bugs till I entered "Fort Dawnguard".

After I talked to Isran the quest "Dawnguard" was completed but the 2nd quest didn't begin.

I tried it about 10 times but it still doesn't work.

I already downloaded the whole game again but it doesn't work. (I use the German version)

Can somebody help me with this bug?

TIA

Hi,

Give me this info:

Did you re install the whole game?

Do you have any mods activated?

Did you download the all previous patches?

Are you using the Skyrim Unofficial Patch?

If you reinstalled the whole game did you started a brand new character or are you using the save you have from the previous game?

Later D13

Hello.

I am having the exact same bug, at least, that what it sounds like. After the line: "Brother Adalvald was sure it held some long-lost vampire artifact of some kind. We didn't listen to him anymore than we did Isran. He was at the hall when it was attacked...", no more dialouges are triggered and the next quest does not start. Did you come across any fix for this?

I have reinstalled the game (twice), and have gotten the same bug with two different characters. I have not downloaded any mods after the reinstalls, including the unofficial patch. I'm not sure if all patches are installed, as I purchased and downloaded the game via Steam, and it is supposed to update the game automatically.

Please, can anyone help me? :(

EDIT: My current version is 1.7.7.0.6, if that is of any assistance.

When I got there with my Vampire, there were no issues whatsoever and everything went well. Now I tried it with my Nord (wannabe Dawnguard) and the Awakening quest doesn't start. No matter what. =/

Edit:

Somehow, it worked for the...14th or so time. After countless loading, reloading, saving, talking, console usage, Fus Ro Dah-ing Tolan's face off...no bloody idea why it actually work that last time. I did start logging the papyrus script to see if I can make sense of anything, but that's most likely just an accident.

Also...it might be worth a mention that the Elder Scrolls Wiki says "Bugs - PC - The quest Awakening may not start if you didn't speak directly with Durak when he was searching for vampire hunters. ". It might help you, didn't help me, since I've been talking to him more than once, not helping me in the slightest. He's that Orc training with a crossbow just outside the fort.

Hmm, never actually tried that, he always approaches me and initiates the dialouge. I have quit the dialouge and reentered it a few times before, because I wanted subtitles, and the default after a reinstall is no subtitles. :P If that's what you/they mean then that hasn't worked for me either. :(

I'm in exactly the same position, though I have a lot more mods installed. For me, the whole Dawnguard quest doesn't register at all, even though I've had a few random encounters and seem heard the guard prompt (no map update). It seems to be set a stage 110, and even when I've set it to stage 180 via console to complete it, it's only actually completed a couple of times. Even then, nothing registers in the Journal, and although Fort Dawnguard is shown on the map, Dayspring Canyon isn't. Talking to Durak does nothing. When I enter the Fort, the two guys just stand there looking at each other without saying anything. When I talk to Isran he goes through the dialogue, ends with the line SirPandaFace mentioned and then they just walk off. I've tried coc-ing to Dimhollow Crypt, but it is in it's pre-quest state (wolves).

Driving me nuts. I will have a go with the unofficial patch, and see if that changes anything, but I'm not holding my breath...

EDIT: Uninstalling every mod made no difference, so I decided to delete every trace of Skyrim from my computer and completely reinstall. A pain, but the quest now starts correctly...

I'm bumping this because I have the exact same problem and have tried everything I can think of and combed the internet for a fix. I've tried setstage DC1VQ01 10 (awakening quest id) and nothing happens, I've unchecked mods and reloaded countless earlier saves.

Does someone know how to fix this?

Please does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried every console command I can think of, I've made a clean save by sleeping for 31 days in qasmoke with respawn mod, I've at my wits end. Can someone please help with this problem?
