Game freezes during Battle for Whiterun-quest

The topic pretty much explains it all. The game freezes randomly while I'm defending the barricades/drawbridge/whatever. This is weird(er) because I have played through this quest before with no problems (though as a Stormcloak that time). I also have fairly capable hardware that should have no problems (and didn't have so first time I played the mission) with handling all the characters on screen. I've got an i5-3550 with 3.30 ghz, 8 gb ram and a 2 gb geforce gtx 670.

This lead me to believe that a mod was causing the problem, so I inactivated any HD-mods or similar that I had installed, but to no avail. Is there any mods, apart from Warzones which I've never even installed, that is known to cause this kind of problem? Is there something else that could be wrong?

What do you know... I'm having the exact same problem. My game keeps freezing during the Battle for Whiterun. I don't believe it has ever happened before. May be an issue with the game that Bethesda needs to patch. If removing all mods doesn't solve it, just quicksave/save frequently and put up with the freezes until you finish the quest. That's what I'm doing. I'm going to see if I continue to get freezing after the quest.

My game freezes too, but It's before and after the Battle for whiterun. (I've got many saves)

Its making me quite angry since I just bought Dawnguard and I go to go inside to go to my Breeze home and the game completely freezes up at the loading screen. I've tried it with my current (and biggest) game file after defeating Alduin, and the battle of whiterun already completed, and it freezes automatically; I've even tried with another file which is before battle of whiterun, and it freezes the same, but it loads solitude in the middle of action (Vamp attack) and it's completely fine. The only way I can load into Whiterun is if I load one of my earliest files, or a new character (2 hours in instead of 140 like my 'main' char file)

I'm at a loss, since I was hoping to start Dawnguard as my lvl 61 and not at ... lvl 1. :(

Anyone else have similar issues?
