Anybody have experience with Civil War peace/modified outcome mods?

Hey guys!

I've been playing my first modded play-through of Skyrim, and have been debating on even doing the Civil War questline. I agree with certain parts of both storylines, and so I'd rather not totally annihilate one side or the other just to finish the quest. Before starting this campaign I first installed mods to try to make a Stormcloak playthrough to be a little more fitting to my play style, though now I've been looking into a few different mods that try to find a middle-ground between the two sides. I'm curious to see if there's anybody that has experienced any incompatibility between any of these mods (especially considering some mods don't have a lot of downloads), or if you guys have any recommendations of any others to try. There are a few mods that I've already installed, as I didn't realize some of the others existed until now. I'm playing SSE.

Currently Installed Mods Affecting Civil War:

Man Those Borders: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/681

Immersive Patrols: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/718

Civil War Aftermath: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3484

Open Civil War: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11076

For the Stormcloak's (Mod to allow Jarl Balgruuf to join Stormcloaks): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/7020

Diverse Skyrim: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/7707

Stormcloaks for Good Guys: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12839

Mods Affecting Neutrality I'm Currently Looking Into:

Civil War Neutrality: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21176

Betrayal at Hrothgar (Kill Elenwen at negotiations): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14367

The Second Great War: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17204

If you guys have any recommendations, let me know! Thanks for reading!

I use the first four you list with no issues; not sure about the others.

I agree with you--both sides are deal-killing ethical choices in many ways and a third option would be very nice. Personally I wish someone would make a third choice option mod where you could raise your own army and lead your own faction to victory after completing the main quest. It makes sense, you're this legendary figure and many people on both sides would flock to you if you asked it. Indeed, a cult, acting in your name, would likely rise-up weather you wanted it to or not.

Thanks for the reply!

That's what I'm hoping for with the last mentioned mods. I'm hoping to start out without triggering any CE sides (remaining neutral), assassinate the Emperor and finish the DB questline, end the civil war at Hrothgar (and in a sense start the Second Great War) by killing Elenwen, then begin the Second Great War storyline which would be pretty cool story-wise if it worked. I'm just hoping that everything is compatible, especially considering that I have many no-longer-needed mods installed. That paired with specific triggers for the Second Great War mod make me a little nervous.

Diverse Skyrim is redundant here as its functions are covered by Stormcloaks for Good Guys. I just looked over the rest of the list (I have been thinking about a similar set-up) and I suspect (don't know for sure though) that Open Civil War will have some issues with the others you list here. Could well be wrong but it's my guess from looking over the alterations listed.

After some more looking into it "For the Stormcloaks" looks like a non-starter. It seems to be very buggy and breaks a lot of people's games. A shame because that was the one I was most excited about.

Thanks for the heads up! Considering the mods I've already got installed, I'll probably forgo the totally neutral route (it seems like the Betrayal at Hrothgar mod can have some issues too, and is not particularly lore friendly in execution). Hopefully we'll see something like this done in the future, though at this point in Skyrim's lifecycle it's probably not going to happen. Looks like I'll be going the imperial route!

I dont exactly like the Stormcloaks (prbly because they hate me.. h4h4) but I dont want to join the Legion either (guess Im just not a big fan of oaths and armys)

Id prefer just staying this lonely assassin who doesnt exactly care about either side but still wants the war to end without missing hours gameplay

Youre saying youre looking into a few mods to stay neutral.. so.. perhaps someone here can help me?

Just starting the civil war quest line, probably go the Imperial side cause Ulfric was compromised/turned by the Thalmor. I'd really prefer a 3rd option to end this but it doesn't seem to be available.

I mean we have the 2 vanilla endings, I think there's one or two mods where you can become the Jarl of Winterhold or Solitude but I'm not a fan of those, good as the ideas are. (I've not tried those mods so don't know how good they are)

But the other option would be something along the lines of either winning the war (debatable) and then getting ready to, and then dealing with, the Thalmor.

With the Imperial side a winner this may have to be more of a 'in the shadows' kind of thing with ambushes and assassinations being the thing at least at first. This is what I'm leaning towards myself. Dialog between Imperials and Thalmor officials could lend itself to some interesting conversations.

Thalmor official: What happened to our patrol?

Imperial: I haven't the slightest idea of what you're talking about. What patrol?

in the background: Imperial soldiers unloading a bunch of elven weapons and armor.

With the Storm Cloaks winners this would be more open warfare but with the Storm Cloaks then taking on Thalmor patrols and possibly mixed Thalmor & Imperial patrols

A third option could have the Dragonborn faction, that some have mentioned, with Imperial &/or Storm Cloaks again going after Thalmor

But since I don't mod worth a lick, I'll just have to wait and see if someone comes out with something.
