Doobs420
I have an idea for a Gandolf-esque wizard character. What i'm looking for is some mod allowing custom staff creation with some form of toggle for casting options. Who's to say staves must be on target? To be honest, all i'd want is a staff that'd cast light on self like...200 feet, for like 60 seconds. 20 uses.It doesn't seem hard but I have yet to find anyone who has done it. I know nothing about modding, so i'm not sure. Is it even possible? Some guy made a summoning staff, and that's pretty much cast on self, right? I was looking at those off hand staves but that's not what I want at all. That just seems like someone trying to have armor without losing magicka ability. Staves don't get looked at as much as they should. Anyway, any imput is welcomed!
tyreil829
i think its tied into a staff for all effects to be target granted morrowind staffs are a lot different but Oblivion was rushed and there are 2 possibility i see 1 the stuff it finish it is still in oblivion but not finished2 it wasn't going to be added because did messed up morrowinds? Doobs420
Hrmm...maybe.Honestly, like I said, I have no modding history. So I have no idea about anything. If you can't make a staff cast on self, that sucks. Well, hey. If anyone is up for the challenge, i'd love to see something like that. Ganjalf the green, wizard extraordinaire, would love to have a nifty Staff of Light. (Speaking of Staves of light, I know there are some in vanilla oblivion, but don't they cast on people? What's the point of that? haha)
tyreil829
i am not sure its even possible to do like i said staffs are tied ( somehow) to being Target but i will have a go... what spell do you want Sheppard
Doobs420
My man!Well, like I mentioned, I'd like a staff that would cast light on self, like...200 feet, for like 60 seconds. Nothing special. It's more for roleplaying than anything else. I'm gonna mainly use spells and have a claymore as backup. (LOTR fans, Ganjalf needs his Glamdring. 8) ) As for the model, if you don't mind me getting picky, something simple is fine. like...you've no doubt seen the Lord of the rings movies...something like Gandolf's first, brown staff. Or like...the Morrowind staff mod that's out there would be excellent as well. You're a saint man. Good luck!

LoginToDownload
...However, you can add a Light spell to the player when they have the staff equipped and remove it when the staff is unequipped, and if you use OBSE you can make casting the spell drain the staff's charge. Incidentally, there aren't only shield-staves out there, but torch-staves as well.
