G13L
(Dawnguard spoilers ahead) When I had to choose factions I ended up picking Dawnguard, but after I finished the quests there I decided to go the route of vampirism.Almost all of the NPCs in the fort now respond with some form of "Get cured!" or "Don't let Isran see you like that!". This seems weird since they've even allowed Serana to stick around at the fort. So I was wondering if anyone is able to make the NPCs in the fort not so hateful towards my vampirism, so that I can buy my Crossbow bolts without people judging me. TheInsaneCrusader
I'm in exactly the same position mate, although my reasons are different (role-play reasons: A Nord Vampire-Hunter who ironically is a vampire, but wears the Dawnguard Full Helmet to conceal his true identity, except form Serena of course) sadly those Dawnguard blokes just see right through the helm. -> In line to your request I've tried a motherload of console commands and Creation Kit tweaks but to no avail, I do believe the main culprit has to do with the Vampire Lord Form or a faction relation with the Dawnguard members. - The Insane Crusader Edited August 5, 2012 by The Insane Crusader
turbosnowy
I'm guessing that in Dawnguard if you become a vampire the game actually changes your race, so you look more vampy. You'll notice Serena does not look all nasty, and that's because in the game she still has is of the Nord race. I think the trick is to find where the game changes you to a vampire race, and tweak it so it a) wont change your appearance except maybe eyes if you like or b) wont change your race at all, but still give you the eyes or not depending on whether you like them. Should say that it is the race I think the Dawnguard are reacting to - so you could theoretically clone it to just work for the player, but so that the Dawnguard et al wont react to it, whereas they would still hate the existing 'vampire' race. I had a quick shufty to see where this change occurs but not found it yet - will keep on looking though. I could be wrong of course, but I suspect that's how it works... Been looking for a something like this, hopefully a good, permanent solution is found. Anyways, I believe this is the case. I saw a thread on another forum where a person was glitched and the Volkihar weren't treating him as if he were a Vampire after joining them. A temporary fix he had to input the console command: 'player.setrace <insertrace>racevampire'. I'm pretty sure the permanent fix was 'set PlayerisVampire to 1' <insertrace> being something like Nord etc. Since it seems that the Volkihar determine if the Player is a vampire by their race, this would probably be the case with the Dawnguard as well. Maybe 'set PlayerisVampire to 0' would make the Dawnguard become friendly again, but it would probably cause a few glitches. turbosnowy
I found the scripts where the race changes takes place, however I suck at scripting - perhaps need a better editor to view them since Notepad++ seems a bit weak looking at .pex files. If anyone good at scripting want to make a mod that tweaks the DLC1VampireTurnPlayerScript and/or dlc1vampireturnscript, DLC1VampireTransofrmVisual (may be some more to play with) it would be great to have the option to be a vampire without looking all beaky, and having the dawnguard hate you (if you want to play as a vamp on the Dawnguard side - kinda Blade thing going on I guess) If no one else does I'll probably carry on looking into it and give it shot once my scripting skils dont suck so much heh. Jaasce
My scripting sucks as well, I only want the whole Vampire on Dawnguard thing, don't care for the beakiness.

hadoumastery
I agree, this seems odd. Since you can even CHOOSE to be infected in order to enter the soul cairn for the elder scroll. Kind of ridiculous when you sacrifice your soul to vampirism in order to fight vampires only to be attacked on sight by the dawnguard when you return. Or that "GO GET CURED" talk they keep giving. I mean, if you picked to side with them, I don't care if they hate me and have a lesser opinion of me, just let me finish quests and buy gear. And then I think... How come werewolfs don't get attacked on sight or told to get cured? -_-
Jaasce
Completely agree, holding off on Dawnguard (unchecked on my load order) until this comes out and some of the bugs I've been hearing about are fixed.
