Gratus
Tyrannicon proves it over and over again the results are stunning and his last Masterpiece shows it again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ct1668FUKs It's masterpiece of it's own, and it really shows the potential of what Bethesda gave to it's audience here, though the workflows are still heavy to create something like this it needs hefty dedication (and still a lot of outside Engine work) but you get payed of for that and this is even not the best what is doable from my own modding creating (experience) with it :)And im pretty sure we gonna see more of this High Quality Machinima in the future out of it (not only in Skyrim Context) that will blast a lot of others away ;) It seems Bethesda realizes this and we can only hope they gonna give people like Tyrannicon more efficient tools for these kind of creations in coming updates, especially more face morph possibilities and in Engine Scene Recording/Playback as well as a more refined Camera Control system. I would be really interested to see how many people are here who plan to take screenshot art to the next level creating Realtime Storys like Tyrannicon does :) ? How many are we and how we can combine our Skills and create Synergies together around this in the Community, creating some Masterpieces together, refining current workflows to be ultra efficient in Engine, combining tools Puppeter Master, Director Tools, Pinup Poser , Mood Magic, Castle Defense to create easier and more powerful workflows ;)That almost everyone could handle :) If you interested let's Discuss it let's Discuss the possibilities the Pros and Cons (all of the Technical issues as well) and how far we can go now and how far we could go in the Future :) Also lets take a look @ other solutions CryEngine, UDK, Unity and Discuss Pros and Cons and what makes Skyrims Workflow and Creation Engine unique compared to them (and of course where it currently fails, also very visible in Tyrannicons creation) and why i think Skyrim is currently better suited reaching a much bigger audience :) Edited August 5, 2012 by Gratus
Stemin
Ok, I'll bite. What's "Machinima" ? I always thought it was just the name of their web site or branding or something.

Gratus
Machininma or Machinema started way back the Days when Realtime Engines (Games) where used to create Movies it's the combination of Machine and Cinema or later Machine and Animation it's the Counterpart to the Still more sophisticated Hollywood Offline Rendering :) It started when Gamers used Games like Doom which had a Record function that had Multiplayer support to create movies with it over the Lan and which they then redubed and made entire Storys out of it these days the Multiplayer part doesn't count anymore in it's essence every Cutscene you see today in a Realtime Game Engine is a kind of Machinima :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machinema Simple said it's an Art form "animated filmmaking within a real-time virtual 3-D environment" The evolving from Realtime Demos to Realtime Cinematics :) Here is a test scene im currently working on to test different stuff :) with my WIP character (or should i better say actress) Scarlethttp://www.ld-host.de/uploads/images/c846ed4b1568a15f33a2a90923e14b9b.jpg Edited August 6, 2012 by Gratus
Relativelybest
And yet the game itself has no cinematic cutscenes, and the player character doesn't even seem capable of changing facial expressions.
Pentigan
I'd say there's a few cinematic cutscenes, of course they're all done in-engine. The best example I can think of is the one where you're paralyzed by Karliah's arrow.

The best example I can think of is the one where you're paralyzed by Karliah's arrow. I don't really count those as cutscenes, at least not cinematic ones. "Cinematic" kinda implies camera work and direction and dramaturgical stuff. Dragon Age had cinematics. Skyrim has LARPing. No, seriously. I've been at LARPs and that's the exact feeling I get from Skyrim cutscenes - people standing around doing improvised theatre, often poorly. TheLine
I'd argue that Garrys Mod is the Perfect Machinima Creator
Jooga
I'm actually just starting to look into machinima options for Skyrim. I've always been interested but never has the opportunity been so ready. I have a recording software (playclaw), premiere pro, and a game like Skyrim, along with the Source Filmmaker...there are just so many options! There are a lot of stories I could tell with the models from Skyrim.
GHETTOCAT
Sorry to bump a old thread but I am working on a machinima series, I am at the stage of setting up scenes and the story is ready to go. I am familiar with console commands I have director tools , puppeteer, dovakin can relax, dances of death, so ready to film but I not sure how to get mouth movements, villa follow has loads of voice options so will be a main character, just engaging in conversation , a lot of characters will have a mask on though just don't want it to be too obvious. Does anyone know of any male NPC's on nexus that have large speech options ? Also using fraps to record and photoshop cs3 to add effects. Any other vital mods that I am missing?
