Your companion is a weapon (Soul Eater style)

So my idea is this:

We have a spell, and a weapon.

The player has the spell equipped. one or two handed.

If the spell is cast

- A specified companion turns perma invisible and goes into a passive following mode

(obvious problem is the player can run into the invisible companion which could be annoying)

- The absorb soul enchantment effect plays from the now invisible companion to the player

- one of the two visible weapons is equipped, depending on if the spell was in one, or both hands. Then if one handed, have the visible weapon equip in the same slot the spell was in.

While the visible weapon is equipped and drawn, then a script does the following:

if the player sheathes the weapon:

- the absorb soul effect plays from the player to the invisible companion

- the companion turns visible

- the soul eater spell is then equipped in the same slot(s) the visible weapon was in.

(Obvious problem here is that in the order specified the companion will turn visible BEFORE the weapon is removed. Maybe use a dummy invisible weapon to get a better visual effect?)

I don't know how to keep the player from equipping the visible weapon directly. If they do, and then sheath it, then hopefully the only glitch is that the player sees a random spell effect and then everything is back to normal maybe? I guess also before they sheath it they'll have the weapon and a visible companion, but whatevs.

Furthermore, if the companion could be specified in game, that would be incredibly badass. Like maybe a ring you give to your companion(s) and the spell works on the companion who has the correct ring. Then you could have a separate spell for both rings, so you could independently choose which companion you wanted to transform into a weapon at any time depending on which spell you cast. Thompson Sisters style.

I have no idea how scripting works in Skyrim, but I'm told it's object based.

Anyways, I thought it was a good idea, but I don't have the knowledge to do it, and I really don't want to take the time to learn, since I really don't want to get into modding or game design. I don't know how these forums work, but I'm assuming very few ideas here get any attention. Either way it doesn't hurt to share ideas right?
