pc crashing

Ever since i downloaded this mod called kvatch rebuilt the game would either crash or the laptop would over heat in about 1/2 hour, but before i downloaded that mod my game rarely crashed and my PC could stay on for several hours :confused:

geez, I've never heard of a mod making the PC overheat.

 

Wasn't there a patch to DL for Kvatch Rebuilt on the same page? If so, download that and copy it over the original download.

Anyways, it might also be a load order problem. Download FCOM helper and use it. It auto sorts your mods into correct load order in seconds, with very few mistakes. ON the nexus page it's the 37kb one, but go ahead and DL the 41 kb f_load order list as it's list is more up to date.

 

Download both of them.

If you are overheating, you problem is more serious than a mod. The mod may be causing your processor or video card to work just a little harder and causing it to show up more often. Overheating will cause something in your system to fail. Possibly damaging other parts as well. You could easily lose everything.

 

Before running off and spending money on new components. Clean the dust out. You would be amazed at how much dust accumulates inside a computer.

 

Turn off the power and unplug your computer before opening it up. Unplug everything and place the computer on a table where you can get to everything easily. Take your time and be thorough.

 

Pay close attention to finned heat sinks and fans. Most video boards have a fan. if the fan is not running, or if the air channels are clogged with dust it will overheat. All processor chips have a cooling fan. If there is dust in the cooling fins or the fan is clogged with dust, it will overheat. Most cases have fans. make sure they are working and are not clogged with dust. clean the dust off of your motherboard and from the air outlets while you are in there. And, do not forget the power supply. The best way to clean out dust is with LOW pressure compressed air - high pressure can damage boards. If you can't get low pressure air, use a vacuum and a brush. No vacuum? then just a brush. An artists 1 inch (25mm) is good.

 

Be sure you computer does not have either its air intake or air outlets blocked - too close to a wall will do that. if it is mounted in a desk, be sure it is not in a closed compartment and there is a large enough hole in the back of the computer compartment to carry away the hot air coming out of it.

 

If it still overheats, you may need more cooling. add case fans

 

Then, when you play, back off on your video settings. Is a little more eye candy worth frying your system? Just going down one level in the video resolution can make a lot of difference in temperature.
