SergeantGrrock
I hadn't played Skyrim in a couple of weeks and finally had some free time today so I launched NMM. It wanted to update so... okay. Then Steam wanted to update so... okay. Everything got updated so I tried launching again. I get the message "couldn't find TESV.exe". Wut?? Looked in my Skyrim folder and sure enough it's gone. Well, at this point I'm prepared to lose my level 64 character and mods but I thought I'd ask you guys if there is a fix for a problem like this. I haven't tried inserting my cd yet because I suspect it will just want to install it again and possibly cause more issues. Will I even be able to un-install (properly) without that main file?? I've been using NMM for eight months without a hitch so I'm not interested in any opinions about how I shouldn't be using that. Edit: just thought of something... I use SKSE too. kevkiev
Do you happen to be using the "Skyrim Unplugged" mod and maybe forgot to turn the disable function off? I mention that because that's what happened to me with the 1.6 update. (From what I can tell, it happened to a couple other peeps too but not everyone.) If that's the case, try enabling update with SU and then verify your game cache.

The only time I mess with game files is when I manually install mods. I can't imagine that I inadvertently deleted or moved tesv.exe but who knows.
kevkiev
ok, that's like the weirdest thing I've heard for awhile. I wonder if something went borky on your steam update somehow. Did you try to verify game cache so maybe steam will be polite enough to give you another exe?
SergeantGrrock
"ok, that's like the weirdest thing I've heard for awhile." I know, right? Not sure how to verify game cache but I'll check it out. I assume it's in the steam menu.... Thanks for the help btw.
kevkiev
No probs SR. Just go to skyrim in your steam library, right click on it and go to "properties" then "local files" and click "verify integrity of game cache".

Lol, yeah, that's the one thing that steam is pretty handy for. (It's always my first step in trouble shooting problems and, sometimes, it even helps!) Good luck!
