Welcome to tesnexus

First, its not a good idea to jump into mods by trying to start with a bunch of mods at once. Pick one, preferably a simple one, a mod weapon or such. Don't try any others until you get that first one working.

Do one mod at a time, especially the larger ones that change a lot.

Then, Some mods are just not compatible with some others. Usually mods that change the same things.

READ the info on the mod. Both the stuff on the site where you get it and the read me that should come with each mod. The mod author should tell you what other mods and programs are needed to run his mod, Such as OBSE is required for many but not all mods. Many mods will also require the latest patch, Shivering Isles or some other mod to work properly. Every mod on Tesnexus has a thread dedicated to it (start with the comments, there is a pointer there to the forums), that may have more info from people who use the mod, as well as answers to some problems. Not all mod authors post there, but many do. Some mods, such as Heather are old and the author no longer supports it. They get tired of Oblivion and move on.

Then, not all mods will magically appear in front of you when you start. for instance, Heather is going to be found somewhere around Weynon Priory. When I used that mod, I most often found her way up the road toward Chorrol, at the stable there. But several times I couldn't find her at all.

Please feel free to post any problems you have. There are many helpful people here.

thank you . :thanks:

first i try with pretty enh and one alchemistgirl . i read those read me files.and searched for them . but didn't saw any alchemy shop in chorrol chapel .

and if tht heather worked then i should found or see a sack near the well in weynon . but there was no sack. anyway..i gave up with heather .so i deleted it.ren body and hairs works and i also found mystic elf race. but the problem is with those companion mods.i followed the main quest but didn't met any of them .neither in imperial city ,bruma, skingurd neither in chorrol .so..i guess i have to try one mod at a time..

so, if anyone could tell me is there any few common body mods just to run those CM companion mods tht's enough for me. ^_^ .

Chorrol chapel? I found the alchemist girl sitting in a chair in the bookshop in Chorrol. I've had quite a few mods that give a vague idea of where to find the item or person, but turns out their vague hints only hurt the finding.

When you downloaded the mods, did you also put all the meshes, sound, textures and other folders that came with it into your data folder?

Never delete a mod unless you're dead sure it's causing some malicious virus or something(I haven't found one of these, but there's always a first time), zip it back up for later use.

well..few mods never worked ., no matter how much i try. >:(

and someone ask for my mod list to see the order, so if there any problem then i'll reorder the mod list or deactivate some of them so the other ones can run properly.

Often a load order list is needed for troubleshooting - The list in the Oblivion data list is not always in the order that things are actually loaded.

How to get your load order list into a post using OBMM

If you don't have OBMM, it is a great tool for managing mods as well as moving them in the load order and finding certain kinds of conflicts. It has many other capabilities, but this post is just to show how to get the load order list into a post for troubleshooting.

First, of course you have to have OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) it's available free from the author's site here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/

Look in the column on the left side, find the heading “Oblivion mod manager”

To download, click on the download just below the heading.

A new page will open with a list of different ways to install – pick the self installer.

Save the file, the best place is a separate folder you make mine is on the desk top and is oblivion downloads\OBMM. The main folder is called Oblivion Downloads. Then a subfolder inside that is called OBMM)

After it has downloaded, open that folder and find the file you just downloaded. It will be named obmm.zip. Click on it to start the install. It should automatically find your Oblivion and install itself in the right place. It will also give you the option of creating a desktop icon, a Quick launch icon. I recommend only the desktop icon.

Then the options for associating files – select all of these.

When it finishes installing, OBMM will start automatically.

It will start with a list of your mods on the left pane in their current load order. Active mods will be checked and inactive will have an empty check box.

To copy the load order, look on the right, you will see a box with 'Import/Export'. Click that.

Then select the first option, 'View Load Order'

A new window will open with only your active mods listed in their load order.

Use your mouse to highlight the entire list, then left click on the highlighted list.

A box will open with Cut, copy paste.

Select copy – DO NOT SELECT CUT!

Now you can close the window and close OBMM (This might take a few minutes as OBMM takes a while to close.)

Go to where you want to put the load order list – I recommend creating either a text document or a word processing document and naming it load order and the date

(load order 6-22-08.txt)

Then open that document, place your cursor at the beginning and right click. Select paste.

This should copy your load order into the document.

Now, to get the load order into a post, open the forum, find where you want to place the load order list and paste it. The copied text will be inserted where you place the mouse cursor.
