xXRegnierXx Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Hello everyone, I recently played through Dawnguard and I am pretty impressed with the crossbows. The animation looks cool and its a nice alternative to the bow which I am always forced to use when playing a character without the use of magic. But even though I like them and the DLC, I was rather disappointed with the small number of different crossbows, as I hoped there would be one made out of every material. And this is my request, I, and I guess quite a few people would like to see a mod which allows the production of Crossbows made of: -Iron-Elven-Deadric-Ebony-Dragonbone-Orcish-Glass materials. It shouldn't be a problem lorewise since, I mean the Dawnguard has the schematics and they know how crossbows work and be constructed...why not make them out of those materials? I hope someone who can do this reads this and starts to create this mod.
hadoumastery Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) I agree, more Xbows. More so, a variation. Like repearing Xbow and such. (only like 3 bolts with repeater so you don't go overpowering ranged though) -Or maybe a bow that shoots 2-3 bolts in one shot. That'd be cool for taking down those powerful enemies. Just make it slower to reload (since it's 3 bolts or so). Edited August 6, 2012 by hadoumastery
FallenHeroX Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) you know op i have a request very similar to this you should visit it Crossbows Expansion Pack (request) like you i was disappointed with the lack of variety for crossbows. Edited August 6, 2012 by FallenHeroX
Deleted4547977User Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) I think to make new crossbow is hard than new weapons like sword, because crossbow have a unique animation, look at Crossbow and Dwarven Crossbow, that weapons have a different animation (you can see at Dawnguard.bsa)it's hard, but I think that still can be created, because nothing is cannot be created in modding world :) Edited August 6, 2012 by Guest
Matth85 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 It's not that hard to work with. We simply fit our custom models with the allready created animations. Of course, this means some of the more awesome models will be on hold untill we've twaked the animation, but generally it is all good. The biggest problem with custom crossbow is the lack of concept art on the internet. Do a google on "Sword concept art" will give page up and down with good concept art. do a "Crossbow concept art" and you get only a handfull of concept art, mostly being from one angle ( which is not good when we kind of need to see the full shape of a crossbow) or a few more organic crossbow from RIFT or Age of Conan. Note, I am speaking of cool crossbow design here. Basic crossbow can me made within an hour, but there is little reason to do so: The in-game crossbow model hold true to a "Basic" crossbow. Matth

You can use the vanilla crossbows as a base. It just needs new textures mostly. Maybe a slightly modified mesh.
ciedeeh Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Slowly incorporating new crossbows on my mod, Crossbows Revamped. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21666/
LadySinestria Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I think having an Auriel Crossbow would be awesome. In that same style, you know?
