MusclyNerd
A .esp file, short for Elder Scrolls Plugin, are the small files that you usually "tick" in the data files to turn on a mod. If you open your skyrim data folder, you'll find all the esps you're using, as in [yourmodname.esp]. Though most mods require a .esp to work, texture packs don't, that's why you won't see any file to tick in the data files menu.Ok thanks ive got all of the sub folders from each part into a folder pasted called textures and got them all into the same 1 by clicking replace all but they didnt replace anything just put all the other parts into this new texture folder. I dont think it replaced any of the old texture files though so im not 100% sure if it has worked. Maybe ill notice more once I leave the first cave but I wish there was a way to know for 100%
asdgora
If this is the first texture pack you use, nothing will get overwritten. The original game textures come in what is called a .bsa archive. In Skyrim's data you will find a file called (I think) textures.bsa. When you download a texture pack and place it in the data folder, it tells the game to load these textures instead of the original game textures in the textures.bsa. Now if you download a second texture pack and copy it to the data folder, you may be prompted to overwrite some older files (the 2k textures in your case) if both the new and old texture packs modify the same files. Just go to a workbench and take a screenshot of it and I'll tell you if the mod is working or not.
