PLEASE HELP! how to make a custom head mesh

Hi has anyone made a custom head mesh for a new race and placed it in OB using HGEC etc body mod? If so how and what programs used e.g. Blender and nifskope?

I'm trying to create a new race using a custom head mesh myself but just use one of the body mods already out there.

So I want to know the file formats and any options used to get it exported correctly to a .nif if that s correct.

Thanks.

i've been working on a new head mesh for a while now, it does take more work than the average model. There's a .nif for the main model, a .tri that covers phonemes/expressions/eye mods, an .egm that covers the shape-changing ability of the model, and lastly the .egt that covers the texture adjustments. :)

At the most basic, you will need a 3d app, NifSkope and The Conformulator. This will get you a head that mostly works; shape morphs, phonemes and expressions are all converted. Conformulator won't handle the eye morphs (blinking, squints, etc.), those need to be modeled and injected via a hex editor. (yeah, it's fun. ha!)

I have a little writeup that covers the formats and how to do the eye stuff. It also includes the tools to manipulate the data around.

If you have any questions, lemme know!

Thank you very much throttlekitty, one of the best modders out there indeed. I shall read your guide and work on the head mesh when I get time and let you know if I get stuck.

Thanks again. :thanks:
