DEADmetal
Hello modders. I find it immersion killing when, while chased by a dragon, my character stops time for a few minutes just to fetch a potion recipe from his inventory to see what ingredients he should gather along the way. Or when getting overwhelmed by a group of high rank mages, he is able to micro manage his inventory, drink several potions AND change clothes / armor to gain desired resistances in no time and then melt their surprised faces. It shouldn't be hard to make, should it?
Deleted4446340User
Although it would make it more immersive, I think that it would make the game five times harder than it already is. Sometimes I'm relying on that pause to eat the 37 cabbages that will grant me all the health I need when in a battle I couldn't hope to win without. Or use poison after poison on my sword while that bandit chief is nearly done killing me. Instead, maybe you could keep the paused menus, but do what ArmA does and add a little "Open Inventory" animation. That would be a little closer to your goal, and not too over the line of balance. I think it would be a bit annoying, so even tho i appreciate your input in this thread, i wouldn't like to wait for the inventory to open, every time i randomly need it in my travels (even for a split second cause that would add up through out the gaming session). I think, my idea is aimed for realism fans (or in that matter, realism fanatics like me) cause first of all, my character wouldn't be able to carry that many gabbages thanks to much lowered carry wieght, to what think is somewhat realistic, secondly, he wouldn't be able to eat them in a fight thanks to a (eat / sleep / drink) mod, or even if he would eat them, they wouldn't provide health bonuses. So i think, if player isn't striving for realism and challenge, then he or she should be fine with vanilla menus but if the player thinks that Skyrim is a joke in respect of realism, then he or she would really appreciate real time menus. You use an Eat/Sleep/Drink mod too? Hmm. I thought I was the only one. The one I use excludes drinking. And I just assumed you were playing with Vanilla foods that still restored health.
