*Spoiler* Dawnguard "Prophet" quest (vampire side)

Hello.

I'm not sure if I should put this here or in the "Skyrim Mod Troubleshooting" section, but the problem is, I'm supposed to "defeat" the moth priest, use vampire seduction and then feed, to make him a thrall. The problem is, he is not essential in my game. in fact, NPCs that I think should be essential aren't (Lord Harkon and Serana should be essential, right?).

I'm using mods, but not one that turns NPCs unessential. However, even if disabling all the mods in the NMM, the moth priest still dies.

Even using the console and using setessential on him, he still dies. I attempted to advance the quest with console too, using the "setstage DLC1VQ03vampire 70" code, but it has some problems: I can talk to him, but once the conversation ends and I tell him to go to castle volkihar, he turns hostile, but still goes to the keep, where everyone will then proceed to butcher him since he is hostile.

Perhaps I can put he in a faction that the vampires don't attack, while not bugging the quest line? if so, which faction code should I use? any suggestions?

If there is a way to fix this without skipping the quest, nice. but at this point I don't really care if I have to use console codes, I just want to proceed in the story.

Thank you!

PS: I do have a mod that makes NPCs unessential, but it is disabled, so I don't think it is the problem.

Any suggestions?

Could that be fixed by making a "mod" that contains only the moth priest(checked as essential), so that the game reads it and overrides anything already in the savegame?

Or am I just doing the quest in a horribly wrong way and I'm not supposed to bring him to 0 health? because if that is the reason, his level is too high for vampire seduction.

I still had to keep beaten on him at fort dawnguard because he was hostile to everyone at Fort Dawnguard and I remember having to disable and enable him in console to get him to read the elder scroll because he was still hostile to me and everyone else!.. Edited by sinnerman69

Try

player.setrelationshiprank <actor> <value>

Actor = his id, which can be found by clicking on him when in console command section.

Put the value 3 or 4.

Addtofaction 0005A1A4 1

(Make sure you have selected him) This will put him into an ally faction where he won't attck you, hopefully.

Thank you cycloney911! Almost there! :)

He is now friendly to me, though the vampires still attempt to kill him. I guess it should be possible to put him in the Volkihar faction, no? That would make the vampires friendly to him, I guess. Just need the faction id to test this. Where can I find it?
