I have been, for a while, playing my games on my ASUS G74SX-BBK7. It has served reliably for a while now, but, soon, it will be time to upgrade. The thing is, I need something that has specs that will serve well for a fairly long time, has an optical drive (DVD RW Drive at the very least), since most of my games are on CD or DVD, yet, isn't uber expensive (below $3000), but, is also not a Dell or HP, due to what I heard about both companies' quality and customer service. I game on the laptop since I can take my games with me. I would prefer to use Windows 7, since all of my games have worked on it (the oldest being the Windows 95 editions of Star Wars X-Wing and TIE Fighter). Edited by austen1000

Dell is actually better once you get used to the way things work. Drivers are easy to find and warranty isn't too hard to claim (just be stubborn and pretend you know nothing).

I had a Dell laptop once... it died in a week and I never got another one from that company. Thankfully the warranty was still in effect.

My Dell speakers broke after a month, so there's that.

I'd go with something from ASUS. I haven't had one of their products break yet.

I own a Malibal (reseller of Clevo) P150HM. It's pretty much boss. Just make sure you get the no dead pixel guarantee, since Clevo screens are shady upon arrival. The system itself is sturdy as hell. A very easy modify-able laptop.
