DG: vampires attack me after joining them

Before i get into my issue, just want to make it clear I've tried everything i can think of to solve the issue: I tried an earlier save, I tried console commands to add.playertofaction ect... The only thing i have not tried is uninstalling every mod one at a time to find the conflict. I am not new to modding, been doing it for years since oblivion, so I hope i don't sound like a newbie...

 

The Problem:

When siding with the vampires in Dawnguard, I get attacked by several NPCs in the castle right after gaining the vampire lord power. Links to others with this problem: link 1 link 2

 

It seems that for me there are 2 in particular who hate my guts and start the attacking: Orthjolf and Solonia Caelia. Once they start attacking me the death hounds attack them, madness ensues...

 

The second link mentions SkyRe, but I'm not using it.

Another small glitch, when i turn into a vampire lord, sometimes i have no loincloth and a ken-doll syndrome! :x

You sir, are in the same boat I got myself into with my latest character.

 

So here's the lowdown, I created a Imperial male and became a vampire and became a vampire lord and had no issues beyond the animation bug, so I started to get frustrated and unchecked each one - one by one - until I discovered it was dD - Enhanced Blood causing the entire animation issue. Now, doesn't sound related; but that's how insanely weird Dawnguard is in terms of what breaks what, because here I am with a new character I thought I'd try - a female breton vampire who just became a vampire lord and got jumped by EVERYONE except what's-her-name you rescue and her father; a issue I still DONT have with my male character, loaded him up and went back .. no problem.

 

I decided since it was storming I'd go to sleep and fix it well 'today', and my best guess before I begin actually debugging it is this .. it'll turn out to be a race-editing mod, not a faction editing one. My breton doesn't have the vampire eyes like she's suppose to, every other race gets them fine but she doesn't; likely due to the additions made by my All in one Face mod that completely revamps facial textures, or something similar. I could be wrong, but I'll update you in half an hour once I have it narrowed down :P

 

All in all, uncheck every mod you have and load up a save just before you walk back out into the hall' see if it's resolved.. if it is, tick one by one back on until it breaks again; if you can manage that without crashing you'll at least get a idea of which mod(s) are causing it and be able to do a clean save / clean uninstall of those mods.

List of your mods I can confirm to work at least with my male character without any issue, however due to us having these mods and the same issue in common, I'm inclined to look into these more regarding race changes to see if one of them makes an alteration to breton's.

(Turns out the reason my breton had normal eyes was "extended sliders" in my mod list, though they still attack even when loading a save outside the castle - so I unchecked every mod and still got attacked; so onto more testing!)

 

 

Narrowed down the cause of this issue (or at least I believe I have.)

Uninstalled every mod via NMM and played from a save outside the castle, became VL and no attacks, reticked just the mods we share and repeated, got attacked. So; time to start fiddling just between these mods.

 

Edit:

Save game placed before entering the castle for the first time, Loaded up with all mods 100% uninstalled, became VL and not attacked; loaded up with mods loaded and ordered properly 100% - attacked, reverted to just the mods we share and started uninstalling 2-3 at a time as a means to test what the source is.

 

Thus far the cause of the issue appears to somehow be..

 

Duel Combat Realism, but only for my female character.

 

Disabling Duel and saving after you see all the vampires and re-enabling duel seems to cause them at least for you duration in the castle to no longer attack, so it's a possibility you only need to disable duel just before and after becoming a VL for the first time. On the other hand, they might attack you if you leave and come back - I haven't tested that far along. But as far as facts go...

Note however, just to make it clear; my male character (imperial I believe) had all those mods listed above & more without issue becoming VT - no attacks, nothing.. but the female breton I'm using does so long as I have duel enabled. Very.. frikking.. weird.

 

and I can kiss six hours of my life goodbye.. ~.o Ugh!

 

To add more to that, re-enabled my full list of mods minus Duel and did the same thing as always - became VL, and DIDNT get attacked.. so Duel was certainly the conflict in my case at least, hopefully it's the only one your having as well - and praying that now that I've narrowed it down, when I go to start a new game in twenty minutes to play a supposed 'hassle free' round <.< that it doesn't repeat itself anyway. ~_~ Would be just mah luck. Welp, anyway, that's the best I can do for ya :P

You have been busy!

 

I just deactivated dual - combat realism and reloaded a save just before i entered the castle but was still attacked after learning the vampire lord power. My character by the way is a redguard male.

 

I noticed my copy of duel is out of date but the file is currently hidden. Maybe the author is aware of the potential problem, or maybe it is not the true source, my test proves it's not the root of my problem.

 

I got in the chat and someone helped my out in circumventing the issue, but it took a few tries to use certain console commands before any of the npcs killed each other or the dogs.

I did this on the two offending npcs and the dogs and all was well. The combat music was still going so i wandered the castle until i found a third hostile and performed the same commands of him.

 

After doing this i have completed the blood chalice quest and returned to the castle with no issues... besides some very friendly npcs who would probably otherwise use more disdainful greetings.

 

So it looks like the console is the way to go if disabling dual does not work for anyone else reading this with the same issue.

 

For a fix to another another vampire related bug check out vampire hood fix if you are having problems with the thieves guild and linwe's hood becoming invisible and making you bald. (also currently hidden :/)

 

EDIT: to the second poster: i have a vampirequestscript.psc, closest thing to the file you named, but temporarily removing it did not avert these attacks.

If your interested in other potential ways of fixing it in the future, no promises they work though: haven't tested them myself xD Finally bug free.. oh gawd.. so long.. so much work T_T

I posted up two fixes I've read along the way, one being a console command similar to yours posted by the author of duel;

 

To fix it just use console command player.setrace <desiredrace>vampire after you get vampire lord power. (Example. player.setrace woodelfracevampire).

I figured out a way to fix it. First load a game at a point where you aren't attacked yet. (Or go to another place in the castle and wait for their alertness to go away) then use the console to fast travel to anywhere in the world. Wait twenty four hours ( a whole day ) then fast travel to the vampire's castle again. That did it for me.

Thank you Satorinu. I've lost track of how long I've been trying to sort this. You'd have thought that after 3 1/2 years the author would've fixed the issue but we can't have everything. Six hours well spent :)

After corrupting my saves trying to disable all the mods to test I found that testing 70+ mods was not worth the time and so looked for another way.

 

This is what I did.

After becoming a VL I ran out and jumped off the balcony and made a beeline for the door.

Outside I saved.

Turned off Combat AI "tcai"
Stepped back from the door and waited.
pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, they all popped out and stood there staring at me, their hatred plastered all over there faces.
Then One at a time I Fixed them, brainwashing the broken Bethesda code right out of there heads.
Click on target. (You must click on them Manually you can't just target as it sometimes won't work if you don't click)

"setrelationshiprank player 4"
Click on next target, make sure the number changed
Repeat till you can't do anymore.
Step back and allow the fixed ones to leave.
Over and over till they were all fixed.
Back inside there was a few left that were still hostile.
Turn back on Combat AI "tcai"
Fixed and you're done they have nice and clean brains that work correctly now.
Once I had the Idea it only took about 5 or 6 Miniats to fix them, Compared to testing 70+ mods this is a way better way of going about it.
