Deadly Reflex Critical Hit Help

Hi everyone. I'm having minor issues with deadly reflex mod (the newest version). Whenever a goblin assassin critically hits my character, my MAX HP total drops and as a result, my life bar can't fill up to being full no matter if I cast a healing spell or drink potions or go to sleep.

I thought it was a disease effect but nope, nothing shows up for disease. I then thought it was a damage endurance effect but nope, my endurance shows no damage. I tried having all my afflictions banished by an altar... but to no effect does it get rid of this critical hit effect damaging my MAX HP amount being restored. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I'm currently using deadly reflex with MMM and yes I am loading deadly reflex last and in the order as to what was said in the author's readme.

Oh yea, almost forgot. Anyone encountered a sound problem with Akatosh mount? Sometimes, upon exiting a ruin or fast travel, I can hear my dragon as though he's fighting something. I can hear its roars and crash sounds. What's strange is that I already dismissed him before I went into a ruin or cave... so he shouldn't even be out. I can hear him but I can't find him anywhere. If anyone knows how to fix this problem as well, please let me know. Thanks.

How to fix deadly reflex problems...There's always so many on these help forums.

Here's the ticket. GET LOCATIONAL COMBAT instead. It's far superior with no rotten reoccurring bugs in it.

"But shadow, Deadly Reflex is a highly rated mod!!"

So, maybe the creator of it has a bunch of friends that all voted 10 on kudos. Maybe the guy promised free candy to all that voted highly on it. You never know.

Locational Combat does all the things DR does but more. There are tricks you can learn from the fighters guild to enhance your combat skills...and they actually WORK...Plus, in a separate download, there is a damage text that goes with locational combat...Want to see just how much damage you're doing, or are you still satisfied with guessing that their health bar is going down? You decide.

I tried looking up LOCATIONAL COMBAT but nothing shows up on Nexus. Can you link me the download?

I gotta agree with Shadow on this one (again). I was using Deadly Reflexes until he told me to try out Locational Damage last night and since then I've been having more fun. My skill with being able to pull off a 300ft headshot with the bow (in less than three shots on average!) actually means something now instead of just giving me a chuckle after I run to their corpse and seeing an arrow sticking out of their eye, or mouth, or even the occasional ear.

the only thing I'm not sure about (as I haven't seen it) that LD does over DR is the dodges. I haven't seen ONE NPC dodge my attacks in LD like they did in DR but maybe that's just bad lucks for me. Overall, I think LD is a lot better and more fun mod, Shadowcran was right, after LD I don't wanna touch DR anymore.

Thanks, Khet. IT's just that I keep seeing post after post with people having problems with Deadly Reflex, not just here but on every Oblivion forum out there. It won't do this, won't do that. It messes up all these mods, it MUST be loaded last except when the moon is in Jupiter...I'm just exaggerating on the moon in Jupiter bit, but it's just too much trouble when Locational Damage does it so much better. It's like I've said, Deadly Reflex might just be popular because people don't know any better or the ratings haven't been adjusted in a year..I just don't know.

BTW, Khet...Thinking about your problem made me think of when I had MY trouble that was exactly the same. I had only just downloaded and installed Deadly Reflex....nah, it couldn't be could it?

Yea thanks for the link Shadow. I haven't had time to try out the stuff in LD yet but it does sound cool that you have to learn the stuff instead of just automatically knowing it from the beginning. I was reading the README for LD and what caught my interest was the script commands that modders can toy with... I unfortunately don't know how in this world to mess with it to add new moves/effects to LD. If you know how to mess with that stuff in LD though Shadow, can you send me a text file on how to do it? Thanks again for the link for LD and introducing it. DR has caused my game to crash a few times and I sure hope LD doesn't do the same.

I'm no modder, my eyesight isn't good enough. I just know what's the best mods to get. I search all over for mods, of course, Nexus is the best. If it could handle the bigger mods, we wouldn't need the others at all.

No, LD doesn't conflict at all. It never has. However, as a guy, I flinched the first time I punched a minotaur in the nads and it grunted and blood splattered the wall behind it...actually the first few times. What can I say? you're face to crotch with them and they're just begging to get hit there.lol

I highly recommend getting the small damage text file with it as well. When I got to high levels on my last character in Vanilla, I couldn't even tell if I was damaging some of the creatures when I hit them, the bar barely moved. Damage text let's you know if your efforts are paying off.

Also, first time you decapitate someone or go into a slow motion vid on a critical hit or cut someone in half, you'll forget Deadly Reflex ever existed.

Actually Shadow, to tell you the truth about four days after installing DR then trying to get FCOM to work my Oblivion wouldn't boot.

But, after reading up on (and playing with) Locational Damage a bit more, it doesn't have the dodging or 'enchanced' NPC combat AI, which would have been nice.

That said, since you're starting to become my one-stop-shop for mods, any suggestions on something like that Shadow?

Too bad I haven't seen a decapitation or cutting in half yet... I use a bow most of the time and by the time they get to me they're dead in one or two more arrow shots so I don't even bother (Marksman at 89 and Blade at 35... lol)
