SKSE-related CTD at main menu load

Hello!

So, okay, I've been working on this for the last... 12 or so hours now. I had my whole skyrim setup prepared and... my game kept ctd, even when I didn't run it through SKSE. I did some research and basically told to uninstall everything skyrim related and re-install step-by-step after a shut down and booting up because there was not real clear fix because too many variables. So I did that. Installed vanilla skyrim, started up no problem with the main menu showing. I put in SKSE without ANY mods first, just in case. Well, now I'm non-stop crashing before the main menu loads and I haven't even gotten Vortex or LOOT in on this. I just have my SKSE and Skyrim. I have no idea what the deal is and I'm not getting a lot of other answers from google (if it's been answered, I'll take a link no problem) and nothing that screamed as the same issue. I'm currently on Windows 7 with an intel graphics card, not a great one but decent. It's a 3 year old laptop so I doubt it's 'out of date' being as I've ran skyrim on this thing perfectly fine before.

Please help and thank you!

Hey,

It sounds like SKSE might be incompatible with the Skyrim version you have. Make sure to download the files from https://skse.silverlock.org/ and absolutely no where else (to ensure the latest version) and make sure you're downloading the "Skyrim", "Skyrim: SE", and "Skyrim: VR" versions according to what you're trying to play.

Also just a thought: you did buy the game through steam, no? If you bought it from G2A or another re seller, you may be getting a game that is many versions behind and might need a patch for the latest SKSE to work.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thanks for sending me this. I use skyrim on steam but I was using the SKSE from steam too so I'll try the site on in a bit and update later. I'm swamped with work right now so give me a few days. c:
