Chicken help

I'm playing Origins again after a very long time. I checked all my mods to make sure they were up-to-date, all OK there. I disabled the few mods I use before starting a new game and then enabled them, all seemed to going OK until I got to Lothering and the place outside the gates is full of chickens and people just standing there not moving, not even a tiny bit, they are completely static. I hate not knowing what is going on, can someone tell me if this is something left over from an old mod I no longer have and if so a hint as to what the mod might have been would be really helpful or are there meant to be a load of static people and chickens standing around and my game has bugs.

OH Poo, I had a feeling someone was going to say that, yes I did have it for half a game then removed it. Just to clarify before I throw myself out the window, do you mean uninstall and reinstall the actual game?

Yup.

To do what it does, "Improved Atmosphere" makes significant changes to the core game files. And when you remove it, it doesn't set things back the way they were.

I had the exact same experience; used IA, decided I didn't like certain things about it, removed it, had to uninstall my game completely to get things working again. This was back in the patch 1.03/1.04 days, when I was un-/re-installing DA all the time, so I got waaaaay too familiar with the process. :pinch:

Make a copy of your "\override" folder if you want to keep your current set of mods, (and a back-up of your "\characters" folder, just to be sure.) Then select "Keep Characters and Saves" when you do the uninstall. Then reinstall, including re-downloading all your DLC, (unless you have the UE.)

If I had to do this again today, I'd use the EA: Origin store to get the digital download copy of the game, (there's no charge for registered game owners) and select the option to "Retain a local copy of the install files." That way I'd never have to download the same stuff again.

Thanks I didn't know about the "digital download" thing that sounds like the way to go. If I move the folders containing saved games, characters and overrides can I move them back again after re-install?

I have another question you might be able to advise on, in my core override folder there is a folder called "Core Files REQUIRED" I've no idea what this is could it be something to do with IA?

"Yes" about moving your "\Characters" and "\override" folders back after re-installing.

No idea about the "\Core Files REQUIRED" folder. Don't recall seeing it back when I had IA installed, but that over a year ago, (maybe closer to two...) and I probably wasn't looking anyway. Definitely not from the vanilla game.

I think I'll use MManager to uninstall my mods, then reinstall later that way if that folder is from something I don't want it should be gone and not come back. I can't remember but I think that mod for Dark Times might have used IA or some parts of it.
