babydiehard
Problem: I play DAO Ultimate Edition GOG version and have install some mods. I uninstall the game after I complete it. I just recently reinstall steam version and now all my mods in my document folder is not reconized. Got a waring message when try to load old save files. I only uninstall and reinstall the game, didn't touch anything in my document/ bioware/ dragon age folder since. All the setting files and mods files is still there. Why the game suddently not reconizeing mods any more?
theskymoves
I'm not familiar with the Steam version of the game, but it sounds like the reinstall probably over-wrote/ replaced your Addins.xml, which is the file the game reads to see what DAzip mods are installed. Unless you have a backup of that file, your recourse would be to just reinstall each of the DAzips.

Addins.xml will be in [drive letter]:\[user]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings. Absent a known-good backup of that file (from when the mods worked), I can't think of any solution other than reinstalling the DAzip mods.... the installation process writes info about the mods to that file, and that is what allows the game to 'see' the mods. Note that mods that are installed in the /override folder don't use the addins.xml file, so you shouldn't have to reinstall them, if that folder is intact from the previous install. So next time if I happen to reinstall the game or switch PC I just need to backup that Addins.xml and I don't have to reinstall mods?
theskymoves
I've used a backup of the entire settings folder to 'restore' my install after reinstalling/repairing the game with Origin. It may not work for a situation where you are moving from one delivery system to another (such as from GOG to Steam).

babydiehard
Hi. I have another question. Do I need to delete the folder in Document/Dragon Age before reinstalling all the mod or just leave it there? theskymoves
Hi. I have another question. Do I need to delete the folder in Document/Dragon Age before reinstalling all the mod or just leave it there? Which folder? The AddIns folder? If you are reinstalling all the same DAzips as before, you can reinstall over the old files.
