Shadow of the Fallen
Just a minor thing, conflicting issues: After installing a mod which added a number of new face/hair styles to the game, I came upon the realization that by entering "Enableracemenu" (WOOT) I could change those very things on an existing charecter. I made a backup copy of my save game before proceeding, and then changed the properties of my charecters appearnce. All good and well.. Except that now, when I go to enter an area I created with a mod, It tells me to "ask Sellus Gravius about my duties". Aggrivating. So, of course, when I head back to Seyda Neen and talk to him there is no option to talk about duty as there was at the start of the game. Depressing. Now, the obvious solution to this problem is to fall back on my old save file and simply play the way it was.. But I have become a bit attached to the new look. Snazzy... Anyway, the question is, CAN I FIX IT? And how?! Must I be tormented by an ugly charecter for the rest of my days? Or is there a shred of hope for me?.... Yeah, overdramatized... I guess that I should also mention that it is only the modded area giving me trouble. No where else does this occur. I dont know why it wouldn't occur with some other door someplace, except that it is a mod.. Go figure.
Marxist ßastard
Try going into the console again... Set CharGenState to -
Shadow of the Fallen
Nope, didn't work. The variable was set properly but the game still wouldn't relive me of the message. And I learned the hard way that setting it to 0, or (Woot) 1 didn't help. Didn't think they would, but I came to the interesting discovery that if you set it to 1 it sends you back to that ship in seyda neen and you cant move or initiate the story to progress... a lost cause, trying to work the boat thing out. Any other ideas?
Marxist ßastard
Do the doors leading into your area have a script attatched? Does the message appear with a new charachter?
Shadow of the Fallen
script? hmm.... *looks in TES at the infamous door causing the issues* Well what do you know... it actually has the CharGenRoom's exit script... what kind of imbisile put that in there... (remembers that he made the door and offers only a weak smile in response to his own question) I bet that'll fix it.. Thanks, just goes to show how stupid some people are. Shadow of the Fallen
I'm not one for double posting, and sorry to all those who will get aggrivated at this, but i think it deserves to be set aside slightly... I have mastered the art of making a useless dungeon. :D First of all, it took the above threads to actually get this to work, which is when I finnaly discovered my own folly. Which only serves to prove my point. When you first walk into the dungeon, you are blinded by white all around, you cannot see where you are going. Only the white shadows of attacking skeletons stand out. This effect is acheived by putting a thick white fog in the dungeon, which was intended as a ground cover thing before, add a little ambience, but nnnoooooooo... nothing ever works the first time. So, as you battle your way though the endless hoard of undead (3 to be exact) in the white "ambience" you begin to realize that this is going to be a difficult endevor. If you so manage to pass through the first stage of the cave (a small room) you can progess into the next area after finding the door. In the second stage, (another small room,) you discover a more difficult challenge, the room is filled with water, and the enemies are stronger (a +1 lvl skelly warrior and a bonewalker; the bonewalker is stuck in the water for some reason and doesnt attack. After being harassed by the hellion in the last room (a skelly archer that was hard to find as he whittled away at your health; apparently, the enemies are not effected by the dense fog and can see/attack/kill you perfectly well in the dark/light) Ahh, but even as this is the last room, you are not done! There is a "hidden" underwater chest (its out in the open, were it not for the "ambience") full of valuble treasures. Surprisingly, they all are worth next to nothing, and its only until out side the cavern (granted you can find the door and get out) that the true err is revealed. The sword, in all its brillance, is to heavy to use effectivly (picture attacking with a deadric claymore only in really slow motion) and the armor is cursed with vampirism. Well, other then becoming a vampire, which many would endure for the 500 armor, there seems nothing wrong with it. You try it on. When all of a sudden, the game hits a road block and crashes, you get a few rapid error message noises and then a *click-flicker* as your screen pops back to its original display settings. Hmm... what went wrong here? ... What didn't?...
Marxist ßastard
What are the errors?
Shadow of the Fallen
Thats the odd part, no message, just the beeps... and they sound more like the beeps from Windows XP then from Morrowind, which may suggest that the problem lies more globally then the game. Besides, if it was Morrowind, I wouldn't get to see what the messages were anyway, the game is dead before it would have time to run the display procedure. The cave is worthless... But I think I'll keep the mod for the novelty of "Worst Dungeon Ever Made in the History of the World"... and as a constant reminder that accidents do happen and we should always wear protective gear when handling dangerous substances (i.e. programming code)
