mirja
I vote Light armor. (never used heavy armour in either Oblivion or Skyrim be caurse I always play as wood elf, and HA is just not proper for a little elf girl  ) I use: Vanilla fur armour, you know the one that reveals a lot of skin. (enchanted with health and health regen)And Dawnguard light boots (enchanted with sneak and muffle, love the dawnguard boots) and vampire gauntlets. (enchant one handed and archery) Instead of helmet I use numenume elfears. (enchant magica and magica regen.) This combo makes my wood elf look awesome! Amphibian
Stalhrim Heavy Armor.I like it because besides being good, it also has that Dovahkiin ''feel'' of the iron armor. Edited March 14, 2013 by Amphibian
stockwiz
from a gameplay standpoint there is no real difference other than how it looks.. heavy can be used for an agile character, light can be used for a front line masher if done properly. I went heavy, wish I would have went light. I still can in say 5-10 levels or so. Wearing daedric right now. I use bows and arrows at long range and if they see me before they are dead, sword and shield. If that doesn't work, dremora lords. RatcatcherOfKvatch
@Derok:Scaled is the best-looking armor in the game, and the bracers and cuffed boots are so cool they even look good with clothing. If you don't mind abusing alchemy to do it you can hit the armor cap with just bracers and boots and mix that with whatever you want to show off ... Archmage Robe, Party Clothes, Savior Hide, rags looted from a vampire thrall ... gotta leave the right first impression, y'know ...
ponyboy10
Wow, lots more love for Light Armor than I expected. I'm still getting my feet wet in Skyrim, but it seems like all the vast majority of decent stuff so far is Heavy. It works for me though, because I'm working with an Orc tank-type character. I usually use a rogue/archer type though, so LA all the way for that build.
Lord Garon
I voted heavy because most of my characters used it; steel, mainly. Love that horned helmet. Now its Alteration spells and enchanted mage-type clothes. The best defense is a good offense.
Derok
I love scaled armor but someone knows another vanilla or modded light armor that doesn't look ugly or made of latex? I want an armor with chainmail or something good for a wanderer fighter. Edited March 16, 2013 by Derok
Beoroth
Derok, have you tried AMidianborn's high res armour textures - they are a great improvement on the default armours? There are also some Viking armours that look pretty good & may suit your needs. I usually stick with something like leather armour because I want it to look realistic, not fantasy. Personal preference, but Dragonplate armour etc. just don't work for me.
Derok
Yes I installed AMidianborn's thing and finally he made the retexture of the scaled armor. But really it's becoming boring, I wear that armor since I found it :biggrin:I tried the wanderer cuirass but I don't like it.
