How to set up mods?

First of hello.

I recently discovered that there are mods for elder scrolls oblivion.

And the 1st thing that came to my mind is a female model,

because to be honest the default once are just very bad looking.

I searched and searched and i came up with a series of

nicely made female models made by a person named nec01.

So i don't really have any experience with installing models,

i taught all i have to do is dump the files in my data/character

folder and stuff...well i was wrong, after i read the read-me

i found out i need several other mods, so i began to

download them since the nice read-me had links to

download pages of each, still it was really confusing to me

as of how to install each mod and stuff ...so after

a painful hour of bashing my head i finally saw a new model

in game, the mystic elf, i was like nice But ...

soon after that i found out i cannot apply Any hair to her ...

so downloaded and installed all other mods i found

in the read-me still no changes ( yes at the launcher

i clicked data files and checked the mods )

So i am really disappointed in myself right now.

I came here to ask you guys if you could post a

step-by-step on what i need and links will be useful, i just reinstalled

oblivion so its all clean now ...

I would Really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time.

PS: I am sorry for the mistakes and few messed up

sentences but my English is not good at all ...

You did a great job of explaining everything, Good for you!!

So you're trying to get your lovely mystic elf set up ala the wonderful and talented Nec. That mystic elf is truly a beauty, isn't she.

Don't worry we'll have you adventuring along with your lovely lady in short order.

let me take a quick moment to read which "beauty mod" Nec recommended for her...

OK, it looks like he recommended you use This Version of Ren's Beauty Pack:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4431

Is that right?

The first thing you should do is put the beauty pack mod near the very end of your load list, you will probably have to use the Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) to move it. It has to be below (or in other words, it must load after) the Mystic Elf "esp".

By the way, I hope you noted Nec's "remakes" of his mystic elves, they are the latest and most beautiful versions.

Try this and come back and let me know if it's still not working.

alright check it.

step one: install oblivion (done, good job)

step 1.5:install the oblivion patch and then the unofficial oblivion patch trust me you want the unofficial patch as well.

step two: download OBMM

Step three: install obmm, it's a .exe im sure you can manage that ;)

step four: download eyecandy body replacer

step five: install Eyecandy, this is an OBMM file (opens with oblivion mod manager) it will open the OBMM program which you just installed and it will say eyecandy body replacer there will be a green box next to it, double click it, select the options you want and wait for it to do its thing, the box will turn blue when its done.

step six: download HGEC mod this gives you options for bust size as well as if you want your toon to wear underwear or not. i reccomend the Full OMOD Fixed version, install it like you installed the above file (the box may be red this time, that is okay when it pops up and asks you if you want to be warned say "No"

step seven: download and install Rens Beauty Pack this one comes as meshes textures and an .esp there is the version which gives you a race and a version which doesnt. (i say go with the one that gives you the race)

step 8: download Fcom Helper (bottom one on the page september 08 44kb file this will arrange the order that your mods load in, when you start getting more (i have 152) it comes in very handy. to install fcom you will have to extract the .exe .bat and .txt file to your oblivion/data folder. to run you click the .BAT file. to make this program work install the microsoft visual runtime C++ the program will automaticly set the load order in obmm.

Step nine: open obmm and ACTIVATE the mods, there will be a list of .esm and .esp files check them all off.

step ten: play and enjoy, you can use the .exe, start menu or launch oblivion option in obmm (if you use this you will get a text warning saying that you dont have to use it, you have to hold SHIFT when clicking OK to be able to launch from obmm.)

hope this helps!

Cheers

I only disagree with the Unofficial Patch. Didn't need it, didn't want it. I suggest you read what it does and decide if it's for you or not, there are other mods that can fix some of the pressing issues, but the unofficial patch changes some things that aren't actually bugs.

FCOM helper is not essential, but it will help you if you can't figure out how to optimize your load order by reading the FCOM helper documentation.

i found the uop to be easier than having to get a whole bunch of seperate mods. if you deside to not use it you need to get the Custom Race fix to be able to play any of the new races.

fcom helper isnt needed at all, its just a nice convenience :) sorting through 150+ mods and ordering them by hand is very tedious.

Try 255+ (actually currently closer to 277 or so) Wrye Bash and Tes4Gecko to the rescue! :D

haha wyre bash is amazing, ill catch up eventually...i just cant seem to find anything else to install at the moment...lol

oh one other thing i have to recommend is doing a disk defrag after you install everything you want, it does make the game run a bit smoother in my experience.

p.s. if you have any mod recommendations for a non SI setup that aren't in the top 100 i would love to hear them ;)
