Elathen
This might be beyond far-fetched, but considering how much time and effort has been given to things like sexy dancing mods...maybe creative talent could better be harnessed implementing a more ambitious project. Here is the idea in brief...the Aldemeri are invading Skyrim...they're attempting to sack Solitude. In order to stop them, forts must be held, reinforced, and kept in order to protect the populations from being slaughtered or absorbed. This mod would have three overlapping dynamics that would require a great deal of effort to achieve. 1) Aldemeri Invaders. A class of Aldemeri that rove the landscape laying siege to forts and villages. At intervals, Aldemeri Invaders appear at forts and villages and attempt to sack them. They attack the guards and population and if they succeed in wiping out a certain number of either...they control the area. They can be repulsed by direct player intervention and by the guards and populace itself. Also, to spice things up, perhaps put roving Invader camps around or as patrols. In their inventories, place notes with the prospective point of next assault or invasion. 2) Fortification mod. In each village and stronghold (forts, redoubts, towers) you place a chest named something like "arsenal" or "armory". If you wanted to get fancy you could make it a room with racks and stuff, but that seems harder to accomplish. Regardless, this chest is tied to the troops which "own" the village/stronghold. Player can stock it with anything and the troops will, at intervals, go and loot the chest to augment their own equipment. in this way the player can equip a whole stronghold against invasion (see #1). Drop a bunch of Ebony armor into the chest and the troops will all take some and wear it. Put some enchanted bows in there and the archers become a bit more capable. 3) Assault and Defense. At each large city a player can Recruit a band of soldiers from the jarl who he can deploy to a location either as an assault or defensive force. Also each faction can be hired or tasked (if youre the leader of that faction) to be your war band. The college will send you mages. The companions will send you fighters. The dark brotherhood will send you assassins. Only one band of soldiers at a time so it makes faction membership more valuable.. In this way the player can retake strongholds and villages and redeploy new troops there or defend them from a forthcoming assault (if the player were to discover the location by intercepting a communication for instance). With this sort of dynamic you would have less repetitive questing and more epic battling and strategy. It would also make use of the player's resources much better, which at a high enough level amount to ungodly amounts of wealth. Being able to spend it on something fun, like Skyrim tower defense, extends the gameplay quite a bit. These three ambitious elements would be enough to do it. But you can add more...like fort upgrades...Calvary....dragon interventions....guard dogs...trained beasts...allied giants....and take it way out there to make each situation hugely customizable. Obviously this is just an idea, but perhaps someone out there knows how it could be made to happen.
calfurius
This would take a lot of time and resources, even if it was possible.
