simple in concept, dont know about execution

 

i want to be able to have a weapon in one hand and a spell in the other.

 

but i dont want to use a sword, axe, etc

 

what i reaally want to use. is a staff. a quarterstaff. something similar to gandalf but maybe smaller. i dont really care about the specifics.

 

using SKYRE i found a battlestaff. but its just a warhammer in the shape of a stick. two handed, slow, clunky.

 

i would really love to be able to play more of a warrior mage. who uses an enchanted, or (with skyre) 'enhanced' quarterstaff.

But a staff is a two-handed weapon. You can not effectively swing a staff with one hand. You would either hit yourself with the back end, or fail to deliver much force with a staff that was swung with one hand. It sounds like you are looking for a one-handed cudgel or club, but that does not sound very mage-like.

 

So I guess what you are asking for is that a modeler make a one-handed weapon use a two-handed staff model with the one-handed animation. (Attention would need to be paid to the sheathing, because a two meter long staff would look very bad if worn at the waist like a sword or mace.)

 

Settings can be easily changed in the CK to make it so that a particular staff can be swing much more swiftly than the average warhammer.

Yes im thinking small adjustments like this may be how i start looking into the creation kit. to behonest im a bit 'hesitant' to go down that road. though i know i will eventually its a wonderland waiting to be explored.

 

but i hear what you are saying in terms of the staff. increasing its speed etc.

 

but it just 'feels' like a warharmmer in the shape of a log.

 

if you google quarter staff, you will see a weapon that is very much a two handed weapon that is light and yet dangerous. it would be a great weapon for commoners to carry as most farmers bk in the day would carry something similar (just a guess, ,but a good one i think).

 

really though, im looking for a weapon that a mage would carry. not a spell sword, or any other. but a fighting mage, a mage, with hand to hand skills. i know its an odd request. and i have 3d modelling skills, so i may look into it myself. then create a few. find an animator to replace the animations for it. and add it to Skyre plugin. or something. but i have a feeling its more work then it sounds like.

 

i hate just hoping someone will pick it up. but getting some feedback on how hard it would be to make as a first mod would be great as well. though it would have to be skyre compatible.
