Thieves do not kill.

A couple of items I acquired unnoticed include Sotthilde's Code Book and a second Stronghold Approval from Duke Dren. I have not yet managed to lift by this means Auriel's bow but I am still trying.

Thievery isn't hard at all in Morrowind. All you have to do is manipulate the people around the area to turn the right way, and you can go on unhindered. I've NEVER used the amulet of shadows, mainly because I don't like magic items that aren't CE, and I've robbed all 3 treasuries in Vivec without killing anyone except those pesky Storm Atoroachs in Telvanni's. And it was entirly too easy.

To me, a true thief doesn't exist in Morrowind. A true thief would drop through an open window, silently creeping through a shadowed house and pilfering any gold and valuble items.

But, there are no open windows, nor do shadow's matter in morrowind (and the mod that does allow that annoys me) and no commoner in Morrowind has anything valuable. 10 gold here, 12 there, not even the smugglers have anything worth money except for the occasional moon sugar in some awkward place that no one in their right mind would even think of going.

It's true that few houses hold much of value but the smugglers cave are much more mixed. To start off with the content is levelled so at first there is little but later on you get gems, grand soul gems, scrolls etc that can all be sold or used. And some caves hold unique items that are worth a great deal of money. It's the same with the ancestral tombs. cmac's pinned thread in spoilers gives an idea which are the best. If you don't like spoilers visit them all and find out for yourself.

I do agree however there isn't any real opportunity for thievery. If there was someone could steal off you and that would add a great deal of fun to the game!

the vaults are level 90 locks(possibly 95)...they are jam packed with magic items, glass and ebony..very little daedric and loads of money and rare stones(diamonds, emeralds etc)use teleknis and chameleon then unlock the door...then wen you steal stuff make sure the guards cant see you..the stuff is heavy so make sure you hide in a corner so that you are undetected, use teleknis to take everything in the room then recall to your house or to a house you use(make sure you've already marked before you start looting the vaults....and word of warning...you may want to save a few times coz it can sometimes get difficult..or if you just wana make money set a mark on the mudcrab...then once your pockets are full recall and seel all...you'll be rich
