TheStoneDog
So I decided to start playing Oblivion again, and I thought why not, let's try out some mods... I looked around here and on PlanetElderScrolls, found some lists, found some "helpful" topics, looked around some more.Well, to put it bluntly, I'm completely dazed by the sheer amount of stuff, and none the wiser about what mods to get.So, heh, I'd appreciate some help. I'd be looking for mods that will improve the gameplay (since I think I can manage by myself when it comes to "visual" mods). I've already set my sights on the FCOM (and it will be freakin' tough installing 'em), but some more tips would be welcome. Also, I'd like to find mods that make the game more "realistic", like, dunno, realistic physics, realistic fighting, etc. I hope I explained clearly what I'm looking for, guys, and thank you. BTW, please don't tell me "start out with this one, and then move on to this other one". I ain't scared of difficulty :)
tcwleblanc
fcom is actually an easy install, just lots of downloading, there is a superb guide for installing it here physics mod would be here Fcom makes the game a bit harder and you will have to flee from battle at times :) as for realistic fighting i would say give this a try. have fun and welcome to the forums :)
TheStoneDog
Thank you, mate. I'll get those right away.BTW, where do the unofficial patches fit in?
tcwleblanc
i use the UOP its the 2nd .esp in my load order, it's not required to play but it fixes a lot of little bugs so i would recommend it, you can find it on the top 100 of tesnexus :) i installed the UOP right after i installed the official patches, then ooo, mmm, frans, warcry, bobs armory so on and so forth, in the guide i posted there is a "cheat sheet" link which you may want to check out. There is also a link for TNR you can also search TNR on tesnexus, but i highly recommend it, it changes all the npc faces so everyone looks unique. myrmaad
I've been using Giskard's last overhaul, (CUO still available on nexus I think) but unfortunately I don't think he'll be updating it anymore due to politics. I'll just say it eliminated my need for any other overhaul though.

tcwleblanc
i would say locational damage over deadly reflexes, DR seems to have some bugs that caused a lot of CTD's its also one of the mods most frequently posted about on the tech support forum
