MattB89
Hello, first time posting on here! I'm not sure if there is a thread already for this kind of thing so I've taken the liberty of starting a new topic, as I cannot find a fix to my problem anywhere. Maybe there is one among you who can help me out. I really hope so. Please bear with me here..... Okay, so I downloaded a custom head mesh and texture for a "better male face", you can see it here. After downloading I installed the mesh and texture files via FOMM, which just added them in the data folder as usual. The respective paths for the files are: Mesh - fallout3/data/meshes/characters/head/headhuman.nifTexture - fallout3/data/textures/characters/male/GEOheadhuman.dds and GEOheadhuman_n.dds In the readme the modder states that if you want to make use of the texture you need to change the name of the files from GeoHeadhuman.dds and Geoheadhuman_n.dds to Headhuman.dds and headhuman_n.dds, otherwise they won't work. So I changed the file names. Launched the game. Started a new game, BAM!, there it is, my nice new shiny head and texture added to the preset list. After playing a while, I decided I didn't quite like the affect of the mod for various reasons, such as a tonal mismatch with the rest of the body, facial hair clipping, and the fact that the mod was applied to NPC males too, and not just the player character, so that I kept running into NPC's with ruddy mismatched skin tones, which I didn't like. So I decided to uninstall it. As per the readme instructions for uninstalling I deleted the mesh and texture files from the data folder, but upon going back into the game saw that they were still in effect! How is this possible? I double checked the instructions, also re-read the description on the mods download page, checked the comments for anything, but have not found a solution. I uninstalled the game, deleted my data folder and all other files related to the game, used Ccleaner to clean my registry (just to be sure), and did a full re-install, but the mesh and texture are STILL there, applied to NPC's, even if I don't use the mesh myself. It's as if the mod has replaced the defaults of the game. I tried re-installing the mod and then deactivating it with FOMM instead of manually deleting, it makes no difference. I really do not know what else to try, and I'm not sure if the problem lies with the mod or with my system. I haven't had this problem with any other mod that I've used, and I don't see how it's possible for it to happen anyway. If the file isn't there, how can the game still use it, even after re-installing? If anyone has experienced this before and has a solution I would really appreciate any help at all.
