Children's Endless Dialogue Loop

Recommended Posts

So, I just moved over to Special Edition. Some things are definitely better, but some things are even more broken than Legendary Edition. Namely, the adoptions.

I have done numerous save reloads, and even a couple entirely new games. Each time, the result is exactly the same. No matter who I adopt, and in which order, the first child will always work perfectly fine, but the second child will always have that endless dialogue where they follow me around all the time.

For that matter, why would the first child ALWAYS work, and the second child ALWAYS be the one with the endless dialogue bug? Worse yet, this is preventing me from being able to adopt any other children. With any other children, I can get to the point where I tell them where to live. But then, instead of saying they need to get their things, and say goodbye to everyone, they just repeat the generic "Hi there," and stay where they are.

If it matters, I've never had any interest in getting the Dwarven Sphere, so it is not a factor in this equation. I have not met Meeko yet, so he is also not involved. Inigo is a constant, but he has never caused this problem in Legacy, so I doubt he would be the cause in Special Edition.

* As always, I am using Multiple Adoptions. That said, the multiple part has not even come into play, because I cannot even get the second child to work, and that is blocking any other children from being adoptable.

* As always, I am living in Whiterun, because it is the geographic center of Skyrim, which gives easy access to anywhere in Skyrim. For that, I am using Comfy Breezehome Remodeled. Could this be the problem?

* If it matters, I also use My Home Is Your Home.

First off, your problem has nothing to do with SSE. Inigo is no problem & the comfy Breezehome should be no problem.

Do you use a children altering mod like TKAA? If so, the directors cut version has some specific inst. for adopting.

If you have a Dwarven spider or sphere follower, that will muck adoptions up also.

If you're still having problems, show us your load order.

I do use RS Children, and quite a few of the NPC mods and city mods also have RS Children patches. Could that be a source of the problem?

As for the Dwarven spider or sphere, I don't have them. As I said, I have no interest in them, so I never bother to get them.

Adoptions work best if you adopt Lucia first & send her to Breezehome and wait until you see her there before adopting more kids. Lucia is known to be a little bugged. As you know, the adoption bug you're experiencing is a known random bug, but getting it every playthrough suggests something more going on. In all my times through, I've never experienced this bug.

I've never modded Breezehome but I think maybe you'd need to use the "Bless Home" spell on it since it's modded.

There is this fix for your problem: Open the console, click on problem child and type --> setav variable06 0
setav variable07 0

THEN
do the same again but make the 0's into 1's.

Without your LO that's all I've got.

I already tried changing those variables to 0, then back to a 1. All that does is simply reactivate the endless dialogue. Plus, whether is is 0 or 1, it is still preventing any more adoptions.

As for Lucia first, the order does not seem to matter. I have done nearly every combination, and the result is still the same. No matter who they are, the first child always works, and the second always has the endless dialogue.

As for my load order, you might want to get some coffee, then find a comfortable chair.

Your list isn't really all that long.

You have both Immersive Citizens-AI Overhaul & AI Overhaul SSE... I think you need to choose.

Most Breezehome mods need to be above Immersive Citizens AI Overhaul.

RS Children complete .esp must be below WICO.esp.

I used Improved Adoptions a long time ago, (in LE?) but it had so many incompatibilities & bugs at that time I never used it again. I'd disable it from L/O for a test & see what happens. Maybe try same with BH mod.

But how am i supposed to adjust the load order? Even if you uncheck the Autosort button, Vortex does not have a button to manually move mods up and down.

Can someone please make the old Nexus Mod manager work again?
