SHAD0WC0BRA
Hey everyone, I'm trying to fix a bug where ingame a certain part of a weapon is not affected by lighting (stays the same dark, flat texture) even though all the texture files, texture set, etc. do not seem to have a problem. I notice that in Nifskope, the part of the weapon that is displayed normally shows up as white and the part that isn't normal displays as grey: https://imgtc.com/i/WVBbo3i.png The problem is, I don't understand enough about lighting in Nifskope to fix the problem. Anyone know how?
dubiousintent
Please see 'TIP Model Lighting' under the "NifSkope Mesh Editor" section of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article. -Dubious-
SHAD0WC0BRA
Well, I attempted everything there, but after that, changing something finally made a difference... at least in Nifskope. Setting "Has Normals" to "No" made lighting appear to affect it, but it still looks wrong in-game. There must be something off with the textures, though when I change the textures to other ones, the error still persists. I guess this is unfixable at least for me. dubiousintent
What DXT format did you save your modified texture in? Please see Working with DDS/DXT Files (HTML article) by Gary "Buckaroo" Neely. -Dubious-
SHAD0WC0BRA
I'm trying to fix a bug in someone else's mod (an inactive user) for personal use (not for distribution). It uses base game textures for normal and environment and the author's .dds files for the diffuse parts, which seems to work fine on one part of the weapon and not work on another part of the weapon. dubiousintent
The resident NifSkope expert was pixelhate, but he closed his Nexus account on 20 Apr 2019 and moved on to other things (He will be missed.). Hopefully someone else will step up, because I am not a modeller and we have exhausted what little I know. -Dubious-
