Swampfolk mods

Hi!

I want to start Point Lookout either this weekend or next, and I was wondering if there were any mods specifically for Swampfolk. First, a way to get them to stop attacking you. The other is more important. When I kill Swampfolk, I want them to register as people kills, not creature kills. Is there a mod that will do this?

This mod makes Swampfolks friendly so long as you wear a Pint Sized Slasher mask. One such mask can be found in Kenny's cave, and I'm pretty sure you can find them elsewhere.

Not sure about the kill stats one, though. I don't think it's possible as Swampfolk are classed as creatures in the GECK and not NPCs.

Could it be changed? Like, could they be reclassified as NPCs?

With GREAT difficulty, maybe. You'd have to create several new races for the different varieties of Swampfolk. You'd also have to split the meshes of the Swampfolk into several pieces to use them for the race. It would be quite time consuming and, quite frankly, I don't think anybody would be bothered spending so much time just to classify Swampfolk kills as human kills

I'm sure there's a simpler workaround. I'm not asking to actually reclassify them in base game terms, but to count the kills as people. So instead of editing the NPC status, it's the counter itself that needs to be modified. That I think could be done. After all, all you'd be doing is getting up a workaround where the base id for the swampfolk (there's something between four and a dozen) are still creatures, but in that case count as people.

And I might be willing to do that. It's ridiculous and borderline morally abhorrent to count the Swampfolk as creatures, as wrong as counting ghouls as creatures (Fallout 3 doesn't do that right?). It's even sketchy to count Supermutants as creature kills. Or....just create a new category in the accomplishment screen. In the first two Fallout games, they had separate stats for men, women, ghouls, supermutants, deathclaws and centaurs and a whole lot of other breakdowns that I severely miss.

Well, perhaps you could detect when swamp folk is killed and then use the ModPCMiscStat function to increase creature kills by one and decrease NPC kills by one.

I guess you could attach a script with an OnDeath block to the swamp folk base forms that does this. (Not sure if you know how to do this, but I'm mentioning it because someone else might.)

But I think you're reading too much into all this. I think the fact that swamp folk are classified as creatures have more to do with how Bethesda put the inner workings of the game together than with moral decisions. Everyone including Bethesda probably agrees that swamp folk are not creatures per se, but just people that have been turned into something else. That goes for supermutants and feral ghouls too, as they are also classified as creatures. While we're at it, robots are classified as creatures too, even though they're clearly not creatures. Nevertheless, they are counted as creatures because that's how the gameplay mechanics work. Regular non-hostile ghouls are still classified as NPC's though, which makes sense as they are just regular humans with different textures.

I completely forgot that ModPCMiscStat existed . I've never had to use it before so it crossed my mind. A script attached to the Swampfolk would run like this:

Begin onDeath
     ModPCMiscStat "Creatures Killed" -1
;This counters the "Creatures Killed" statistic gain from killing the Swampfolk
     ModPCMiscStat "People Killed" 1
;This adds 1 to the "Peoples Killed" statistic
End

I'm pretty sure this would work. I could make a plugin now if you'd like, as well as doing this with Super Mutants and Feral Ghouls, and maybe not counting robots for any statistic (Or perhaps count it towards the "Robots Disabled" statistic, even though that's for the Robotics Expert perk)?

That would be awesome!

Even though for my game it won't help me, would it be too much to ask for a categorical expansion? I mean something that lets you see both the bounties and contracts you've competed (I killed two 'good' people for plot purposes and collected on nearly a thousand evil bounties but right now the Pip-boy only displays contracts) and breaks down the kills like Human men, human women, female ghouls, male ghouls, feral ghouls, daeathclaws, Yao Gui, dogs, Enclave personnel, raiders, supermutants, centaurs and such like in the first two games? The supermutant/centaur distinction, but maybe it would be possible to register kills by faction and gender?

And this kind of mod would serve me very well when I start playing New Vegas if it can be done and translated.

EDIT: And Vertibirds Blow'ed up. That is purely a vanity statistic, but it's something close to my heart.

Honestly, I'm not sure how to create new statistics or even if it's possible at all, but vertibirds blown up would be amazing, I always blow them up to stop the annoying fights with the Enclave Troopers.

Anyways, I'll get the creatures counting as people kills done, then I'll look into adding more stats after.

EDIT: I just realised, if you're using mods that change/add creatures, such as MMM or FWE there may be some compatibility issues and/or only vanilla creatures will count towards the "People Killed" counter.
