Vestuss
Greetings All!After 250+ hours of playing and only being a few quests into the main storyline I decided to take a break from the game. Now that I've returned I've found that I am unable to talk to my companions. I get no indicator "E" to interact with them at all when facing them. They attack and do all that stuff as they normally would, I cannot give them anything, or take anything from them, or even tell them to go away!I have the following mods dealing with the companions:• Amazing Follower Tweaks• Sabre Cat Companion• Fixed Followers Lite I have several others but they all deal with visual additions and don't touch on anything to do with the companions. I don't even have Dawnguard yet! So should I turn them all off in the Data Files when first starting Skyrim and slowly turn them on one at a time then? Or is there something else causing the bug? xlcr
Vestuss, hi, as far as i can tell, the follower mod:Fixed Followers Lite by manguejoe - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9842hasn't been updated since February and i think there are reports that it doesn't work properly with patches v1.5-1.7. i don't know if this has anything to do with why 'E' key (activate/use) isn't functioning properly with your followers.you might want to start with properly removing Fixed Followers Lite, i don't think the modder included documentation on how to uninstall unfortunately. fyi, as a rule its not a good idea to use similar mods that make alterations to the same game system, like the follower system for example, and you have 3 follower mods installed.i know the follower mods you listed don't seem like they would conflict with eachother but just say'n. after you returned from your break playing skyrim, did you allow Steam to update the game?someone else recently said they were having the same problem you are but no fix was posted. BetterTejbz
I remember I had the same thing happen to me with an old Sneak Tools beta - people I knocked out never came to so I used the resurrect console command but the dialogue was still disabled like you with your followers. I updated to a newer beta that fixed the problem and I could fix all the permanently knocked out people by resurrecting them and then knocking them out again - then they would come to with dialogue working later. This would be the stupidest workaround ever if it actually worked. (Followers not talking to you? Well obviously you should render them unconscious.) But you should check out the uninstall procedures for the follower related mods you have, most all require dismissing all followers and saving before installing or removing said mods. Amazing Follower Tweaks is just one mod that does everything I want with followers and Follower Framework has features I didn't even know I wanted but I've yet to see if the 2 work together, neither of them say they wouldn't though. ExFF seems very lite whereas AFT is the big overhaul. xlcr's post seems just a helpful as mine if not more so - but there's a positive relationship between a given amount of different answers and the chances that one of them are correct. Vestuss
Thanks xlcr and Better, I'll go ahead and make it so the Followers Lite mod at least doesn't load and see if that helps. Someone else told me to use the console command to dismiss them and then see if I can interact with them after that. Thanks again!
xlcr
Vestuss, you might want to try looking for any documentation the mod may have created on how to properly remove the mod.otherwise, you might want to try a few procedure in an attempt to create a clean gamesave. use the console code to dismiss all your followers first, travel somewhere, make a game save, exit game, disable all the file/scripts/whatever that that mod installed, uninstall the mod, reload gamesave, travel somewhere, make a gamesave, exit gamereload gamesave and see if you can talk to the follower recruits again. if you get somekind of error saying a mod is missing that the game is dependent on thenthat mod may have embedded stuff into the save.bypass and continue loading the game if you can. it seems like something is interfering with the follower dialog menu being loaded which is preventing you from communicating with them. probably a script or something that's incompatible with the new patches if you were updated. does loading an earlier gamesave also have the problem? don't you block steam updates and play offline?i often wonder why people with modded games don't make backups of the skyrim folders andalso leave access to their game install completely vulnerable to game breaking Steam patch updates..oh well.
