sinnerman69
Put steam in offline mode and if your comfortable with cleaning the registry use CCleaner after un-installing the game, I used revo uninstaller last time and it went over board and removed all my steam games including steam, so be careful if you use revo uninstallerm!.. CCleaner is not related with revo uninstaller Owe backup all important steam and skyrim mod data else where before using CCleaner If you previously installed the high def dlc from steam, I'd put it back in your steam skyrim data folder, steam always re-installs it and that could take 3 hours or longer to do Edited August 19, 2012 by sinnerman69

bben46
CCleaner is a registry cleaner - All of the Bethsoft games install entries in the registry that are not removed when you uninstall the game. Those entries tell the game where certain files or folders used by the game are located. If they are not removed, then the game will still be lookng in the same old places when it is reinstalled. A registry cleaner (any popular registry cleaner will work) removes those entries that are left behind. Cleaning them manually is possible, but there are thousands of entries in the registry, and removing the wrong one could possible cause your computer to be unbootable. The registry cleaner allows them to be removed safely. In order to properly use a registry cleaner, you must first go through the normal uninstall, then either delete or rename any game folders that remain - be sure to get them all. Then - this is important - reboot the computer before running the registry cleaner. Rebooting allows Windows to flag any registry entries that are no longer associated with a program as orphans that can safely be removed. When using a registry cleaner be sure to uncheck things like clean cookies as that could remove any saved passwords - so you would have to re enter all of the passwords you had saved when you tried to access web sites. Ccleaner allows you to set up a saved list of cookies you don't want deleted while removing those that you really don't care about or would want to remove- such as cookies for sites that use cookies to track you and that porn site you accidentally opened  Here is a link for Ccleaner - http://majorgeeks.co...Slim_d4191.htmlBe sure to use the Ccleaner Slim or the portable as the standard will try to download a useless ASK bar and try to get you to switch to ask as your search engine - Ask is a poor substitute for Google that tries to trick people into downloading it then claims it's not really malware.
