Im looking for a new fun interesting playthrough that I wont get easily bored of. Ive already done all the basic playthoughs mage, thief/assassin, warrior, vampire, evil character, you name it. So ive searched this countless times and ive found a lot of playthoughs that might be fun at first but they are all kind of related to previous playthoughs ive done and I dont think I would be able to play for more than a few days. So anyone have any good ideas?

I've experimented with this idea quite a bit over the last several months, since the guild quests tend to get repetitive and boring after a couple times through. I'm waiting for Beth to get the bugs out of 1.7 and Dawnguard before I upgrade and go that route, and so far nobody has released anything new and refreshing in a finished state like we had with Lost Spires in Oblivion.

Here's what I do. Forget the guild quests entirely. That means knowing what not to do or pick up when you're wandering around the world, since you can wind up bloating your journal and inventory with stuff you aren't going to be able to complete. It also means you have to deal with some quest-locked dungeons that might have words of power you want. Install a mod like "Immediate Dragons" if you want to do shouts and don't want to do the Main Quest. I generally do that, anyway, since I like shouts and I'll carry it at least as far as getting Dragonrend.

Now decide upon why you're in Skyrim and how that would affect your actions as a real person. For instance, played as a Khajiit refugee from the Thalmor opporession in Cyrodiil. She didn't like the Empire, absolutely destested the Thalmor, and isn't terribly fond of the racism that is rampant in Skyrim ("Skyrim belongs to the Nords", "What do you want, cat?", and other racial slurs she heard almost all the time). In this play-through I didn't go into walled cities. I just tred to scrape a living the best I can, anyway I can, even if it means stealing something valuable and selling it in Riverwood or to one of the caravans.

Another of my Khajiit characters was a feral. I played him naked, or as naked as the vanilla game allows, and initially unarmed, if you count the 15 damage for Khajiit claws as "unarmed". He lived on the very periphery of society, uneducated, mostly unskilled at anything but stealth and doing whatever he had to do in order to survive. If that meant running away from a battle he'd run away. I eventually worked him into a sort of relationship with one of the Khajiit caravans, once he figured out that it's best to wear clothing/armor and carry a big stick (warhammer) around people he wanted to deal with. I basically made him an extra guard and went wherever that caravan went, exploring the areas around the cities where they stopped while they were there. Once that got boring I hooked him up with another caravan, and then the third one.

In another I played a Nord who didn't like Ulfric, but felt that something had to be done about the Thalmor in Skyrim and that then the issue of Talos worship would take care of itself. I did the quests where you get to beat up on Thalmor and went out of my way to antagonize every single Thalmor I could find until I could kill them without incurring a bounty. And, I always left something of value at every shrine to Talos that I encountered.

In another incarnation of my female Khajiit character (I use save games for favorite characters right at the exit of Helgen, so I can reuse them), she was an unassuming, peace-loving alchemist who got sucked into the Main Quest when she discovered that she was Dragonborn. That's all I did, was the Main Quest and various miscellaneous side quests. She made her living, not carrying loot from dungeons to traders and selling it, but by peddling her trade as an alchemist and doing good deeds for people.

It's really not terribly difficult for a role-player to find ways to play this game and keep it interesting and fresh, although that generally involves taking on sometimes serious disadvantages. In my current play-through, for instance, I'm playing an archer. I'm doing the Main Quest, but none of the guild quests. I'm not using any melee weapon bigger than a dagger, and no spells beyond novice level. I run away a lot because a dagger just isn't effective when you're surrounded by enemies, but the challenge is to never get caught in situations like that. I'm restricting myself to only a single craft -- alchemy. I'm not going to smith anything. I'm not going to enchant anything. I'll just use what the game throws at me.

You didn't specify whether or not you are a strict role-player, or how important lore or "immersion" are to you. If you like action, mods like Warzones are good if you pick a side for the CW. There are also More NPCs and Immersive Patrols mods. If you want more action/fun, add SkyMoMod and then Monster Wars. That's a blast. My Skyrim is very much alive with a lot of action, but I'm not a roleplayer. My characters don't eat or necessarily even sleep. And if you don't normally play that way, you could give it a try. It's like a different game. I have a couple of dragon mods installed too, so there are dragons to deal with also. It's definitely more of an action/adventure/exploration approach. If this doesn't appeal to you, you might want to take a break from the game. There are some very impressive mods being worked on right now. If they are successfully completed, there will be new land, new NPCs, new quests, etc. I'm tracking these two specifically:

The people working on mods like these could probably use whatever support and encouragement the community can provide. It's a lot of work.
