Please, please help - I can't uninstall/remove Covereyes.

Firstly, Covereyes is a beautiful mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4869) however, after using it for a long while, I decided I wanted the vanilla eyes back again.

The problem is, I just can't get rid of Covereyes. Whatever steps I've taken, they're always in game, in the race selection menu, on npcs etc. as if the mod were running. Here are the steps I've tried, in order.

- On the Coveryes page it says to uninstall; delete the files in SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\textures\actors\character\eyes, which I did.

- Did a complete fresh re-installation of Skyrim, through Steam. I didn't keep anything at all. In fact I downloaded the whole game again. ( I felt like a fresh start for Dawnguard anyway. ) Covereyes were still in game.

- Searched my computer for any Covereyes files and deleted them. (There was the downloaded .rar folder in my downloads, and for some reason I'd made a backup in another random folder - deleted them.) Covereyes still in game.

- Deleted my Skyrim prefs, inis and saves from User\Documents\my games\skyrim

- Searched my PC for Covereyes folder generally, and the specific eye files, can't find a thing.

They're still in-game. I honestly don't know what to do. I've been looking for a solution for ages, but can't seem to find anyone else who's having a similar problem. I'm running 36 mods, none of which effect character's appearances in any way. I have Nexus Mod Manager, but I haven't used it for Covereyes.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, it's bothering me quite a bit :(

That doesn't sound possible. BTW, I would not ever install a mod manually. That's just asking for future problems. Wrye Bash and NMM keep track of what files are installed, and they make copies of files that will be overwritten so that they can put them back if you uninstall a mod. I've installed/unistalled different versions of coverwoman, Bella's beauty mods, several different eye mods, hair mods, etc. NMM has always been able to remove a mod completely and put things back the way they were before the mod was installed. Are you saying that you started a new game after re-installing Skyrim, and you still have covereyes? If you don't have the meshes/textures for them somewhere in the installation, they can't be in the game. Just not possible. The only other possibility is a different mod, something like a follower mod, carried that data with it.

Honestly that's exactly what I'm saying. I started a new game after a fresh installation, and I still have them. I have no textures apart from lovely hairstyles. I mean I've looked through the folders a hundred times now, and as I said, I've searched for Covereyes over my whole PC, and nothing appears. But they're still in game..

I'll happily give any more information and I'll provide screenshots if you do need evidence. But truly it is how I'm saying. I've spent the last few hours going 'that's not possible'.

Also this is the first time this has ever happened, I use mods all the time. I've always had 50-70+. Adding and removing them all the time. This is reeeally weird. Shall I list my mods? I don't know what more information I can give.

Okay, gotta say it: "that's impossible."

But since that's nothing you haven't said to yourself, and if it's really true that nothing's impossible, all I can think of is to unpack the skyrim bsa somewhere onto your hard drive then copy the resulting data\textures\actors\character\eyes folder into your game's data folder. (As I'm typing I'm thinking "but that shouldn't make any difference since your game should be picking up the vanilla eye textures from the bsa anyways." Que repeat of impossibility thing again tho.) Might be interesting to actually look at the DDS files in that folder and compare it to the dds files in the cover eyes download. If you don't have a viewer program, I use a program called WTV dds viewer or something like that and it works nice - google WTV dds and you'll find it.

I use FOMM (Fallout mod manager) for unpacking bsa's. If you don't have that utility, I know I've seen another one mentioned in these threads that people seem to like for skyrim but for the life of me I can't remember the name - sorry.

edit: sorry, I shoulda posted this before: you can find FOMM here. From a lot of the comments, some peeps are having trouble using it but, fwiw, its never given me any problems. Peeps are cryin' that it hasn't been updated in a coon's age, but I don't see why a utility like that would need to be updated. I installed a couple FONV mods with it recently, and used it to unpack the Dawnguard bsa, all without a hitch. Still.... just thought I'd point that out.

I had a similar problem with mods subscribed to from steam. they were downloading and reinstalling automatically to a different folder. It was c:\users\YOUR PC LOG IN NAME\Appdata\local\skyrim

while there check the plugins.ini file for invalid mods

worth checking.
