The search for: Awesome ~ Smooth ~ Balanced ~ Lore-Friendly mods

I mostly end my day by searching trough many mods, and watching some "mod of the week/month" videos. In the hope to make the game even better as it is.

So I came to and idea, to post my ideas on this forum. So that other can show their favorites.

a little side note: If their is already such topic, or if it fits better somewhere else, or it's even not allowed for some reasen etc. Then let me know, cause I wasn't aware ...

I rather like balanced and lore-friendly mods. But sometimes a funny mod, can add that little more to the game to make it awesome.

If I may, I will make a list. Were all the good, suggested mods will be sorted.

However, I mostly don't download mods, that only improves sounds or graphics. Like: birds, enhanced citys etc.

Cause I want to play the game smootly, even when my savefile is starting to increase in size.

* Which overhaul and dragon mod do you guys like the most? Or maybe some combinations (with other mods) *

Awesome ~ Smooth ~ Balanced ~ Lore-Friendly mods

I will try to keep adding mods to this lists, but it can take some time to test these mods. (I still need to test many of the listed mods)

I didn't made any of these mods. So all credits goto the original makers of these. And I want to thank them (and all other modders) for their great work.

PS: If somebody wanders, I'm actually looking for some great dragon and spell mods (like "deadly dragons"), or some nice story mods. ;)

it seems you are fairly new to the nexus so I'd like to say welcome to the community (: I have a few suggestions for some fun mods to check out:

Armors: Immersive armors is probably the best in that department :P adds a ton of armors that fit seamlessly into the game

difficulty overhauls: SkyRe and Morrowloot are pretty great (: SkyRe completely overhauls all of the skills, perks and difficulty in general, morrowloot makes higher lvl items much harder to find (dwemer + is uncraftable and only found in certain locations hand placed by the author) (there is also a version that leaves crafting untouched)

Immersion: frostfall, Imps more complex needs, total realism. frostfall adds in hypothermia and cold weather survival gameplay :P IMCN and total realism both make food, water and sleep required but IMCN is a much more complex one

magic: Midas magic, phendrix magic evolved. both add in lots of cools spells although of the two i personally like phendrix more (:

(SkyRe also adds in a lot of awesome spells)

follower mods: Ultimate Follower Overhaul (UFO) and Convenient Horses. UFO allows multiple followers, lets you see their stats, make followers essential or non essential etc. Convenient Horses gives the horse an inventory that you can access and basically use your horse as a pack horse if you wish (in case you dont want to drag around lydia for all those dragon bones and deadly dragons items xD) and it also adds horse armor, lets you make horses invincible etc (much more stuff but youll have to check it out yourself (; )

Vampire and Werewolf: My personal favorite, Belua Sanguinare Revisted, Tales of Lycanthropy. both make their creatures of the night much more fun. BSR adds many abilites and strengths/weaknesses to vampires and in general is extremely kick ass but you'd have to check it out for yourself to really know what all is in it. (and also since youre looking for quest mods its worth mentioning that they plan to have a questline out in the future) ToL makes werewolves feel a little more like actual werewolves by adding a chance to transform every night based on the phase of the moon, adds Sanius Lupinus (i think thats what it's called) disease to all werewolves encountered so you can contract it similar to vampirism.

Quest mods: Only one that really comes to mind is Quest - and the realms of Daedra. It's rather short but pretty damn cool. Let's you explore a little of Hircines Hunting ground, the pits of Peryite and another one (I forget which)

I'd definitly recommend checking most of these out if you haven't already (: hope this list helps with your search :D

I already thought it would be that obvious ;)

But thanks for the reply, I just read it quickly, and it sounds promising.

I will definitly take a better look at this, after a nice rest ...

Warzones, is epic. but fits nicely within the game.

A.C.E has some great modules that can be used with Skyre.

ASIS is fantastic for uppping difficulty (more spawns, and enemies use mod added spells etc.)

armageddon spells. this may be too overpowered for your liking, but i play with many difficulty mods that make getting these spells expensive and hard.

plus NPC's have these spells as well. it ups the anti of Spell casters in skyrim.

Atvir Dres mod in follower mods. A follower WHO ACTUALLY talks to you and not just the same generic crap you hear from every follower.

Listen to Calfurius. He's smart.

Some of my personal favorites are:

-WATER: Complete revamp of the appearance of water sources, plus stronger and more realistic currents in rivers.

-Tundra Defense: Build your own custom stronghold anywhere on the map and defend it from raiders.

-Dice Game in Taverns: Kind of self-explanatory.

-Hardcore Compass Mod: Removes enemy indicators and landmarks from the compass in your UI. Exploring actually becomes a matter of using your senses again.

-Scenic Carriages: A must-have in my book. Makes the carriages found in vanilla Skyrim fully functional - you can actually sit back with your followers and enjoy the ride.

-Sexy Maids of Skyrim: A deceptively-named quest mod that has more to do with ancient vendettas and city politics than it does with sex. Though only the first chapter is available at the moment, it's extremely well-crafted and quite entertaining.

-Skyrim Monster Mod with the Lore-friendly plugin: Adds a lot more variety to the creatures you encounter. The original version is undeniably awesome, but the TES purist in me considers the plugin a necessity.

-Skyrim Sewers: Viltuska has been collaborating with me on Atvir Dres, and he's a great guy, so I definitely want to plug his Skyrim Sewers mod. Adds sewers, and a few secrets, to Solitude, Whiterun, and Windhelm. Great for thiefly types and those nostalgic for the days of Oblivion.
