Faralda Black Face Bug

Hello Everyone,

I've recently experienced an unusual issue that I haven't been able to solve on my own.

I have narrowed it down to RF Character Overhaul but for the life of me cannot figure out what in this mod is causing this one NPC to have the black face bug.

I have tried exporting FaceGen, but for some reason the file is always much smaller than others (only 119kb). But this did not work.

I have tried tweaking load order, again nothing.

Every other issue I've had, creating FaceGen has resolved it as long as the proper mods are installed, but not Faralda.

I thought at first there was an issue with using RF Character overhaul with Skyrim Hair Replacer, but if I disable RF, everything is fine. If I disable Hair Replacer, still black face.

I would love to know if anyone has figured out why Faralda feels the need to be special and not use an appropriate colored face.

Don't re-export FaceGen data to solve a black face issue. It won't solve any problems and will most likely reset that character to an ugly Vanilla potato face. NPC replacers usually merge or replace faces with heads created in Racemenu or EEC. If you re-export FaceGen data, you will very likely undo these changes (without doing anything to solve mod conflicts). Don't know why some people still recommend re-exporting FaceGen data. It's nonsense.

In most cases, black faces are load order problems and need to be solved by adapting your load order (and maybe creating a bashed patch).

Open your whole load order in SSEEdit.

Expand Skyrim.esm. In "Non-Player Character (Actor)", search for Faralda.

Look at her record. SSEEdit will show you all mods that make changes to her. Remember these mods (or write them down).

Exit SSEEdit without saving anything.

Now rearrange your load order. Make sure that the mod you want to control Faralda's appearence is loaded AFTER all the other mods affecting her. Usually this simply means: Put your favourite NPC overhaul after everything else affecting teh NPC in question.

Usually, this should already do the trick.

If you still have issues or if you want to make sure all non-conflicting changes to her are carried over, create a bashed patch with "Wrye Bash". Make sure, "Actors" is checked in patch options (it's disabled by default). This shoudl finally solve all issues.
