Jamarushin
I am making a vault safehouse loaded with gear and amenities (I've beaten New Vegas 7 different ways from Sunday, I'm ALMOST in "Sandbox Idiocy" territory), and I've made a little game of restoring cut content, making unplayable content playable, and otherwise screwing with game variables for fun (nothing major, mostly carry weight) with the GECK. But one thing has me worried... I WANT to modify the ilevelsperperk variable to 1 so that I can get a perk each level (bear in mind that I have all DLCs purchased/in use). Does this have any blowback or negative side-effects? Or is it safe to modify this variable no sweat? I'm testing it right now, and I don't seem to notice anything crashing or going cuckoo... I keep hearing something about... what, a Script Extender being needed for this to work without an eventual meltdown?
Ladez
To my knowledge there's nothing wrong with changing this value manually in the GECK. You need a script extender to be able to change game settings through scripts though, that may be what you've been hearing. So if you're going to do it through script you'll need NVSE.
