Less a mod, more a total conversion... POKe'MON

Call this crazy, call this stupid, but if there is one game that I've been waiting for, that I don't see any plans to release, it's a first-person perspective Pokemon title in a full-featured, cell-shaded 3D landscape.

Why suggest it here? Because I feel that the Gamebryo/Creation engine, more specifically the version of it used for Fallout: New Vegas, would be an almost perfect fit for such a game.

Imagine, you're pushing your way through a patch of thick grass along a cliff face, when a disturbance ahead of you alerts you to the presence of a wild Pokemon. Opening your quick menu, you prepare your Charmeleon for release just as the wild Psyduck attacks! You issue orders to your pokemon using quick commands as the battle rages in real-time, the Pokemon dodging and swerving as you move around the perimeter, staying out of the path of the destruction while using your handy and heavily-modified Pokedex to keep track of how your own combatant is faring. Pokemon grow not by levels, but by a more natural ability increase as they use certain skills and maneuvers more and more, learning moves based on those same attributes and evolving the same way. No longer are you trapped into tackling the towns in order -- oh no! -- Freely explore the Johto/Kanto/whatever region as the world grows with you, facing the gym leaders when YOU feel ready to take them on.

An all new story, featuring companions whose witty banter and personalities bring shape to the world around you! Befriend your Pokemon, or treat them as weapons! Make the world your own! Catch 'em all!

Using a system similar to V.A.T.S., pause the action between the fighting Pokemon to more carefully assess your own Pokemon's status and determine what actions to take. More moves are at your disposal as your Pokemon is no longer limited to four attack commands -- bite, scratch, tackle, or use your Pokemon's unique powers to send your opponent reeling!

Randomly generated rival trainers means goodbye to worries about running out of opponents to face, as each journey through an area brings you face to face with new challenges!

Of course, I could go into more detail, but I'm not really picky. Whether it were a remake of Red, Crystal, Sapphire, Black, or even a completely new game like none before, I'd just like to see something like this done, and if Nintendo's not gonna do it, maybe an industrious person here will?

That mod would be far too hard for almost all authors and probably would take years to complete but if you want Pokemon you should try this mod http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/40745.

Hmm... cute, and a great suggestion, but not quite what I was going for.

And, yeah, you're right, my idea would be hard. That's why I'm suggesting it to someone else rather than tackling it myself! Well, that, and the fact that I've never even been able to get a simple house build to work correctly.
